Königssee
The Königssee is a natural lake in the extreme southeast Berchtesgadener Land district of the German state of Bavaria, near the Austrian border. Most of the lake is within the Berchtesgaden National Park. Description Situated within the Berchtesgaden Alps in the municipality of Schönau am Königsee, just south of Berchtesgaden and the Austrian city of Salzburg, the Königssee is Germany's third deepest lake. Located at a Jurassic rift, it was formed by glaciers during the last ice age. It stretches about in a north-south direction and is about across at its widest point. Except at its outlet, the Königsseer Ache at the village of Königssee, the lake is similar to a fjord, being surrounded by the steeply-rising flanks of mountains up to , including the Watzmann massif in the west. Kevin Kuske
Kevin Kuske (born 4 January 1979) is a former German bobsledder who competed from 1999 to 2018. Competing in five Winter Olympics, he is the most successful Olympic athlete in bobsledding, winning four gold medals and two silver medals. Career Prior to his bobsleigh career, Kuske was a sprinter athlete, and won a bronze medal in 4 x 100 m at the 1998 World Junior Championships in Athletics. At the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, Kuske, along with teammates André Lange, Carsten Embach, Enrico Kühn, won the gold medal in the four-man event. Four years later in Turin, Kuske paired with Lange to win the gold medal in the two-man event, while those two, along with teammates René Hoppe and Martin Putze, won gold in the four-man event. Kuske won gold in the two-man and silver in the four-man event at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. Tina Hermann
Tina Hermann (born 5 March 1992) is a German skeleton racer and a four-time World champion. She began racing in 2007 and was selected to the national team in 2009. She is coached by Dirk Matschenz (personal) and Jens Müller (national); away from the track, she is a police officer. Notable results Hermann's first competition on the Europe Cup circuit was at Winterberg in the 2008–09 season, where she finished seventh. Hermann won the Junior World Championships in the 2009–10 season at St. Moritz, but did not record a victory on the Europe Cup until 2011–12 at Altenberg. She began racing on the Intercontinental Cup circuit in 2012–13 and had her first ICC gold that season, also in Altenberg. Jacqueline Lölling
Jacqueline "Jacka" Lölling (also spelled Loelling, born 6 February 1995) is a German skeleton racer who has won numerous races and championships, including the inaugural Winter Youth Olympics skeleton competition in 2012 and the 2017 World Championships. She began competing in skeleton at the age of 12 and was selected to the German national team in 2009. She won her first two international races, as a fifteen-year-old on the Europe Cup circuit, at Cesana Pariol in 2010. Her personal coach is Kathi Wichterle, and she rides an FES sled. When not racing, Lölling works for the German Federal Police. Nikita Mikhailovich Tregubov (russian: Никита Михайлович Трегубов; born 14 February 1995) is a Russian skeleton racer. Axel Jungk
Axel Jungk (born 13 April 1991) Is a German skeleton racer who represents his nation in the Skeleton World Cup. Jungk finished in third place in the standings in the 2014-15 Skeleton World Cup season. During the 2015-16 Skeleton World Cup Season he finished fourth, with a tie with Alexsandr Tretyakov for silver at Winterberg and a bronze at Park City. In the 2016–17 World Cup circuit he once again finished fourth with a bronze at Altenberg. Martins Dukurs
Martins Dukurs (born 31 March 1984) is a Latvian skeleton racer who has competed since 1998. He is a six-time world champion in men's skeleton, a double Olympic silver winner (at Vancouver 2010 and Sochi 2014), and the athlete with the most World Cup titles with a total of 11, having won eight consecutive titles between 2010 and 2017, plus another three consecutive titles between 2020 and 2022. Aja Evans
Aja L. Evans (born 12 May 1988) is an American Olympic medalists bobsledder (Two-woman) who competes as a brakeman. At her Chicago public high school she was an All-American track & field City Champion in sprints and shot put. As a college athlete she was an All-American and Big Ten Champion shot putter. Career Aja Evans began track and field training at Morgan Park High School on the far south side of Chicago, Illinois. She attended UNLV before transferring to the University of Illinois. Jamie Greubel
Jamie Greubel Poser (born November 9, 1983) née Greubel is an American bobsledder who won her first Bobsleigh World Cup medal in December 2012. She won the Bronze medal at the 2014 Winter Olympics in the Two-woman Bobsleigh event. Greubel graduated from the Hun School of Princeton in Princeton, New Jersey in 2002 and Cornell University in 2006. Greubel competed in field hockey and track in high school and was a heptathlete in college. Melissa Lotholz
Melissa Lotholz (born December 2, 1992) is a Canadian bobsledder. In her rookie season, Lotholz pushed Kaillie Humphries to 3 World Cup medals. The following season the duo won 9 medals in as many races, including silver at World Championships, to secure the overall title. Altogether Humphries and Lotholz went on to win 2 World Championship medals, 17 World Cup medals and four crystal globes in 4 years. On January 9, 2016, Lotholz was part of the first all-female team to compete against men in a four-person World Cup bobsled race; her teammates were Kaillie Humphries (pilot), Cynthia Appiah, and Genevieve Thibault. Kaillie Humphries
Kaillie Humphries (born Kaillie Simundson; September 4, 1985) is a Canadian-American bobsledder. Representing Canada, she was the 2010 and 2014 Olympic champion in the two-woman bobsled and the 2018 Olympic bronze medalist with brakewoman Phylicia George. With her victory in 2014, she became the first female bobsledder to defend her Olympic title and was named flagbearer for the Olympic closing ceremony with brakewoman Heather Moyse. Humphries was one of the first women to pilot a mixed-gender team in a four-person bobsled competition. She was also the first woman to drive an all-female team against men in a four-person World Cup bobsled race.
