Damiris Dantas do Amaral (born November 17, 1992) is a Brazilian basketball player. Together with the junior Brazilian team, she won the bronze medal at the Under-19 World Championship in 2011, Chile, and was named Most Valuable Player at that tournament. That same year, Dantas was also champion of the 2011 FIBA Americas Championship for Women with the senior national team, and won a bronze medal at the 2011 Pan American Games. Dantas began to play basketball at Janeth Arcain's basketball institute at the age of 13. Within four years, she had become a professional. Paige Madison Bueckers ( ; born October 20, 2001) is an American college basketball player for the University of Connecticut (UConn) Huskies of the Big East Conference. At Hopkins High School in Minnetonka, Minnesota, Bueckers was ranked as the number one recruit in her class by ESPN and received national high school player of the year honors. In her first season at UConn, Bueckers was a unanimous first-team All-American and became the first freshman to earn a major national women's college player of the year award, winning all four for which she was eligible. The center (C), or the centre, also known as the five or the pivot, is one of the five Basketball position, positions in a regulation basketball game. The center is normally the tallest player on the team, and often has a great deal of strength and body mass as well. In the NBA, the center is typically close to tall. Maria Alekseyevna Vadeeva (russian: Мари́я Алексéевна Вадéева; born 16 July 1998) is a Russian professional basketball player for the UMMC Ekaterinburg of the Russian Premier League. Vadeeva was the 11th overall pick in the 2018 WNBA Draft. She is the first player who was born after the WNBA was founded. Russia won their first title (or third if the Soviet Union is included) by defeating the United States 86–82 in the final. The bronze medal went to Canada who defeated Japan 67–60.
