FIBA EuroBasket 2013 Group A
Group A of the EuroBasket 2013 took place between 4 and 9 September 2013. The group played all of its games at the Tivoli Hall in Ljubljana, Slovenia. The group composed of Belgium, France, Germany, Great Britain, Israel and Ukraine. The three best ranked teams advanced to the second round. EuroBasket 2013
EuroBasket 2013 was the 38th edition of the EuroBasket championship that was organized by FIBA Europe. It took place from 4 September until 22 September 2013 in Slovenia. The number of participating teams was 24. France defeated Lithuania in the final to win their first title. Tony Parker was named the tournament's MVP. Host selection Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Czech Republic, Germany, Italy and Slovenia brought forward a potential candidature for the FIBA EuroBasket. Countries which were interested in submitting a formal candidature had to do so by . On , it was announced that only two countries, Slovenia and Italy had submitted formal bids. On , Italy announced its withdrawal from the run. The Basketball Federation of Slovenia (BFS) thus remained the only candidate organizer. Christophe Beghin
Christophe Beghin (born 2 January 1980) is a Belgian retired basketball player and current coach. Born in Schaerbeek, Beghin had a long and successful professional career in which he was elected Belgium's Player of the Year three times. Beghin holds the record for most games played with the Belgian national team, with 137 played games. Coaching career On 18 June 2019, Beghin was announced as Antwerp Giants head coach after Roel Moors left the club. He coached the team for two seasons, winning the Belgian Cup in 2020. Viacheslav Kravtsov
Viacheslav "Slava" Kravtsov ( uk, В’ячеслав Кравцов; born 25 August 1987) is a Ukrainian professional basketball player for the Kaohsiung 17LIVE Steelers of the P. League+. He also represents the Ukrainian national basketball team. Professional career Kravtsov played in the Ukrainian basketball league for BC Kyiv from 2005 to 2010. Kravtsov declared for the 2009 NBA draft, but after not being selected by a team, he returned to Kyiv to play one additional season. Rüştü Nuran (born March 30, 1976) is a Turkish basketball referee and surgeon. He officiates FIBA games since June 10, 2005. Nuran studied Medicine at Marmara University graduating in 2001. Currently, he serves as a surgeon for Kinesiology in the Research Center for Sports Medicine and Sportspeople Health at his alma mater. Heiko Schaffartzik (born 3 January 1984) is a German professional basketball player for Hamburg Towers of the German Basketball Bundesliga. Tibor Pleiß (, alternative spelling Pleiss; born 2 November 1989) is a German professional basketball player for Anadolu Efes of the Turkish Super League and the EuroLeague. Boris Babacar Diaw-Riffiod (born April 16, 1982), better known as Boris Diaw, is a French basketball executive and former player who is the president of Metropolitans 92 of LNB Pro A. Diaw began his playing career in Pro A and returned to that league after 14 seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played mostly at the power forward position. Nicolas Batum
Nicolas Batum (; born December 14, 1988)
is a French professional basketball player for the Los Angeles Clippers of the National Basketball Association. He is also a member of the France men's national basketball team, French national team and earned a silver medal in the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo.


Early life

His father, Richard, of Cameroonian origin, was a professional basketball player in France. Richard died during a game in 1991 after suffering an aneurysm. Nicolas, at only 2 1/2 years old, and his mother were in the crowd to witness Richard’s death.

William Anthony Parker Jr. (born 17 May 1982) is a French-American former professional basketball player and majority owner of ASVEL Basket in LNB Pro A.
