FFSA Super League
The FFSA Super League was the highest state-level soccer competition in South Australia between 2006 and 2012. Prior to the 2006 season, the highest level competition in South Australia was the SASF Premier League. Due to the manifestation of a new governing body, Football Federation Australia the SASF ceased operations. Nationally, it was one grade lower than the A-League. It was conducted by the Football Federation of South Australia (FFSA), the state's governing body. Each season the bottom two Super League clubs were relegated to the South Australian State League 1, FFSA Premier League. The final champions in 2012 where the Adelaide Blue Eagles. South Australian State League 1
The NPL State League 1 South Australia is the second tier state-level football (soccer) competition in South Australia, ranked third tier in the national pyramid. The league are part of the National Premier Leagues (NPL) structure implemented by Football Federation Australia in 2012. It is conducted by the Football Federation South Australia (FFSA), the state's governing body. After the reforming of the South Australian football league structure in 2012, the league increased its participants from 10 clubs to 16. The FFSA has announced a restructuring of the league format in South Australia for the 2016 to 2018 seasons, moving from a 2 tiered system to a 3 tiered system with the introduction of a new 3rd division, which will reduce the participants in the State League down to 12. Adelaide Croatia Raiders SC, formerly known as Adelaide Raiders and historically Adelaide Croatia, is a semi-professional soccer club based in Adelaide, South Australia, they currently plays in the South Australian State League 1. It is a Croatian Australian-backed club and its home ground is the Croatian Sports Centre in Gepps Cross, a northern suburb of Adelaide. Sergio Melta
Sergio Melta (born 16 March 1954), is a former Australian footballer, who had an extensive career in Australia's National Soccer League, spent entirely with Adelaide City. Playing career Club Melta won the NSL's player of the year award in 1984. International Melta was given his international debut by Frank Arok but ultimately played just once for the Australian national team, a friendly against Czechoslovakia played at Hindmarsh Stadium in his home city of Adelaide in 1986. Melta was substituted off after 57 minutes during the 0–1 loss. Coaching career Melta took over the head coaching role of West Torrens Birkalla in the FFSA Premier League. On 5 February 2013 he was appointed as assistant coach for A-League club Adelaide United. He is the current coach/manager of White City which competes in National Premier Leagues South Australia. West Torrens Birkalla SC
West Torrens Birkalla Soccer Club, commonly known as Birkalla, is an Australian semi-professional soccer club from Adelaide, South Australia. The club is based in Novar Gardens, a western suburb of Adelaide. The club competes in the National Premier Leagues South Australia, the highest level of football in South Australia and second nationally. Founded in 1923, they are the oldest club in the league. History The West Torrens club was founded in 1923 and Birkalla Rovers was founded by J Taylor in 1933. In 1979 the two clubs merged to form West Torrens Birkalla (nicknamed Birks), the name they played under until the end of the 2001 season. In 2002 the club's name was changed to Adelaide Galaxy. Royal Park, South Australia
Royal Park is located in the western suburbs of Adelaide. It is home to a large Polish community, as evidenced by the establishment of St Stanislaus of Cracow Catholic Church. Other ethnic groups represented include Italian, Croatian, Bosnian, Irish, Macedonian and Greek. At that time there was still a tribe of Aborigines living around the wetlands west of Royal Park that is now the suburb of West Lakes. Klemzig is a suburb of Adelaide in the City of Port Adelaide Enfield. It was the first settlement of German immigrants in Australia and was named after the village of Klemzig in what was then German Prussia and is now Klępsk in western Poland.
