FC Torpedo Zaporizhia
FC Torpedo Zaporizhzhia is a former professional football team based in Zaporizhzhia, Ukraine. History Founded in 1982, the club played in the Ukrainian Premier League from 1992 through 1998, after being initially chosen to participate for being one of the top 9 (of 11) Ukrainian teams from the West Division of the Soviet Second League in 1991. Prior to 1982 there were number of the Torpedo predecessors among which "Komunarivets", "Traktor", "Mashynobudivnyk", and others. Torpedo Zaporizhzhia's best achievement in the Ukrainian Premier League was 7th place (thrice, in 1992 (prorated), 1994–95, and 1995–96). The club has successfully competing in the domestic cup competition in early years being eliminated only in semi-finals twice in a row and reaching the best of eight the next year. JSC ZAZ Stadium
JSC ZAZ Stadium is a multi-use stadium in Zaporizhzhia, Ukraine that belongs to the Zaporizhzhia Car-manufacturing Plant ( ZAZ). The stadium's capacity is 15,000 people. The stadium is located right next to the factory, just across a railroad. It is located in the southern part of the city and urban residential area. Near the stadium flows a small river Mokra-Moskovka which is a left tributary of Dnieper. Near the stadium is located a train station Zaporizhzhia-1, while the stadium itself is about mile away down the Kosmichna vulytsia (local street) from the main highway /. Originally the stadium was a home to the factory team FC Torpedo Zaporizhzhia that existed in 1982–2002. In 2001-2006, the stadium was the home of FC Metalurh Zaporizhya as the Ukrainian Top League suspended Metaurh's home stadium in 2001 due to safety concerns. FC HU ZIDMU-Spartak Zaporizhzhia was a Ukrainian football club from Zaporizhzhia. Brief overview Until 2000, the club was known as Viktor Zaporizhzhia. The club represents the Classic Private University that before 2007 was called the Humanitarian University of Zaporizhzhia State and Municipal Administration (HU ZIDMU). Initially, the club carried the name of the university's rector ''Viktor Oharenko'' who became the club's main sponsor, hence Viktor Zaporizhzhia. 1991 Soviet Second League
1991 Soviet Second League was the last edition of the Soviet Second League competition. There were three groups (known as zones) with 66 teams in total (22 in each group). Competitions in the last year "Baltic League" were not held as the Soviet Union was crumbling down. 1989 Football Championship of Ukrainian SSR was the 59th season of association football competition of the Ukrainian SSR, which was part of the Soviet Second League. The Soviet Second League was split after the season and all national (republican) competitions were placed at the lower league (4th division), while the upper league (3rd division) was transformed into a buffer league. The 1989 Football Championship of Ukrainian SSR was won for the first time by FC Volyn Lutsk. In the competition Volyn passed the 1988 Football Champion of Ukrainian SSR, FC Bukovyna Chernivtsi. The Ukrainian Cup ( uk, Кубок України) is an association football national knockout cup competition run by the Ukrainian Association of Football. The competition is conducted almost exclusively among professional clubs. Since the 2003–04 season, the Cup winner qualifies to play the Ukrainian Premier League winner for the Ukrainian Super Cup. Current format The format of this competition consists of two stages: a qualification stage with two rounds followed by the main event (four rounds and the final game). The competition involves all professional clubs plus the two finalists of the Ukrainian Amateur Cup (since 2011). Past variations of the competition involved a home-away type of elimination, but the Ukrainian Cup has since changed to a single game per round format.
