FC Suðuroy
FC Suðuroy is a Faroese football club which was founded in January 2010 and consists currently of the former clubs VB (founded in 1905) and Sumba (founded in 1949), which merged in 2005 to form VB/Sumba. FC Suðuroy's first team in the men's championship competes in the 1. deild in 2021. All teams play their home games at the á Eiðinum Stadium in Vágur. The club logo was designed by the photographer Rógvi Nolsøe Johansen in 2010, the same year he won the competition to design a logo for the club. History VB/Sumba played in 1. deild (1. division, which is the second tier) in 2009 and won the division. FC Suðuroy therefore played their first season in the Faroe Islands Premier League, which was called Vodafonedeildin from 2009 to 2011. FC Suðuroy played their first league match on 1 April 2010 against the champions HB Tórshavn. The result was 4–4. á Eiðinum is a multi-use stadium in Vágur, which is one of the larger villages in the southernmost island Suduroy in the Faroe Islands. It is currently used mostly for Association football, football matches and is the home ground of FC Suðuroy, formerly called VB/Sumba (until 31 Dec. 2009). The stadium holds 3,000 people, but has only 330 seats. Vágshøll - The Sports Hall of Vágur Next to the Football Stadium on Eiðinum in Vágur is a sports hall, which is called Vágshøll. It was built in 1980. Another building next to the football stadium is a community hall which was built in 1978 and is called VB-húsið (The house of VB). Heini Vatnsdal
Heini Vatnsdal (born 18 October 1991) is a Faroese professional football player. He currently plays for KÍ Klaksvík and for the Faroe Islands national football team. He plays as a midfielder. Vatnsdal has also played for the youth teams of the Faroe Islands: Faroe Islands U21 U17 and U15. Vatnsdal has scored goals for Faroe Islands U15 and U17 teams. Pól Thorsteinsson
Pól Thorsteinsson (born 17 November 1973 in Vágur, Suðuroy) is a retired Faroese football player. He has been spent most of his career in the Faroe Islands, while he had brief stints in Iceland and Denmark. At the end of his career Pól Thorsteinsson played with VB/Sumba, who won the Faroese 1. division; in 2010 they changed their name to FC Suðuroy, and the team will be playing in the best division Vodafonedeildin, but Pól Thorsteinsson decided to end his football career at the end of the 2009 season. Símun Samuelsen (born 21 May 1985 in Vágur) is a retired Faroese football striker who played as a right or left winger and current head coach of AB Argir. Career Club career He made his debut in Faroe Islands Premier League Football with VB Vágur in the 2001 season, playing 3 games. After four more seasons at home, Samuelsen moved to Icelandic side Keflavík ÍF and in August 2007 went on loan to Norwegian First Division side Notodden FK. Jón Pauli Olsen (born 17 August 1968) is a former manager for the Faroe Islands women's national football team. He was also manager for the Faroe Islands Women's U17 national team. Jan Allan Müller (born 25 July 1969) is a retired Faroese football striker. Club career He grew up in Vágur, where he played football for VB Vágur (now called FC Suðuroy). In October 1990 he had a trial at Dutch club Go Ahead Eagles earning him a first professional contract. Later Müller moved to Denmark to play professional football, he played for the Danish clubs AC Horsens, Esbjerg fB and Svendborg fB. He had to retire early from professional football due to injuries. Jóannes Jakobsen (born 25 August 1961) is a former Faroese football defender, as well as musician and composer, having released three albums on the Faroe Islands and produced a number of albums for other artists.
