FC Oryol (russian: ФК «Орёл») is a Russian football club based in the city of Oryol. From 2004 to 2006 FC Oryol played in the Russian First Division. History Football has been played in Oryol since 1911. In 1960 a team named '' Lokomotiv'' was formed in Oryol to play in the Class B of the Soviet championship. In 1963 it was renamed ''Spartak'', in 1973 ''Stal'' (meaning "steel"), in 1975 the team was renamed Spartak again. The team played in Class B until the restructuring of the leagues in 1971, when it entered the Soviet Second League. In 1990–1991 Spartak played in the Second League B. In 1992 Spartak entered the Russian Second League. In 1993 the team was renamed ''Oryol''. In 1994 Oryol moved to the Third League, and in 1996 they were promoted back after finishing third. Spartak (sports Society)
Spartak (russian: Спартак) is an international fitness and sports society that unites some countries of the former Soviet Union. In the Soviet era, the Spartak sports society was supported by the Komsomol. Since 1991, Spartak has operated under the sponsorship of the food worker's union ("Pischevik"). It was founded in 1921 in Moscow as the "Moscow Sports Circle" (MSK) by footballer Nikolai Starostin and others. In 1926 it came under the sponsorship of the food worker's union ("Pischevik"). In 1934, it adopted the name of Spartak, after the ancient Ancient Rome, Roman slave, Rebellion, rebel and sportsperson, athlete Spartacus and became the sports society for all unions. The Soviet Second League B or Soviet Lower Second League was an auxiliary fourth tier of the Soviet league system, because it was not consistent as it existed only for six seasons and somewhat randomly. It was the fourth highest division of Soviet football, below the Soviet Second League. The Soviet Second League (russian: Чемпионат СССР по футболу (вторая лига), Soviet football championship (Second League)) was the third highest division of Soviet football, below the Soviet First League. Oryol ( rus, Орёл, p=ɐˈrʲɵl, lit. ''eagle''), also transliterated as Orel or Oriol, is a city and the administrative center of Oryol Oblast situated on the Oka River, approximately south-southwest of Moscow. It is part of the Central Federal District, as well as the Central Economic Region.
