FC Etar (Veliko Tarnovo)
Football Club Etar, or FC ETAR Veliko Turnovo, (Bulgarian: ФК ЕТЪР Велико Търново), was a Bulgarian professional association football club from Veliko Tarnovo. Founded on 24 April 1924, the club spent most of its history in the Bulgarian A PFG. Their most successful period came under the management of Georgi Vasilev, between 1987 and 1992. Etar won the championship in 1990–91, which qualified the team for the 1991–92 European Cup, the first and only time Etar has played in the premier European competition. Following the success in 1991, Etar began a gradual decline in terms of performance, culminating in relegation from the top flight, as well as increasing financial problems. In 2003, the club was formally dissolved, due to inability to cover financial costs needed for professional football. Stadion Ivaylo
Stadion Ivaylo ( bg, Стадион „Ивайло“, en, 'Ivaylo Stadium' ) is a multi-purpose stadium in Veliko Tarnovo, Bulgaria. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home ground of Etar Veliko Tarnovo. The stadium holds 18,000 people and was built in 1958. The highest attendance ever at the venue was 40,000 on 18 September 1969 during a match between Etar and Levski Sofia. The match ended with a 0-2 defeat for Etar. In 1974, the stadium hosted a first round of the 1974–75 UEFA Cup between Etar and Inter Milan (0:0) with an attendance of 27,000. On 2 October 1991, on stadium Ivaylo, Etar secured a 1:1 draw with German champions Kaiserslautern in front of 15,000 people in the first round of the 1991-92 European Cup, the only time the stadium has hosted matches of the premier European international competition. Angel Chervenkov ( bg, Ангел Димитров Червенков, born 10 June 1964) is a Bulgarian former footballer and football manager. Career As a player As a footballer, Chervenkov played as a defender for Tundzha Yambol (1980–1981), Armeets Sofia (1981–1984), CSKA Sofia (1984–1987), Lokomotiv Gorna Oryahovitsa (1987–1989), Etar Veliko Tarnovo (1989–1994) and Montana (1994–1996). In Bulgaria's top division, the A PFG, Chervenkov had 298 matches and 40 goals. Iliyan Ivanov Kiryakov ( bg, Илиян Иванов Киряков; born 4 August 1967) is a Bulgarian former professional footballer who played as a right or left back. During a professional career which spanned nearly 20 years, he played for nine different clubs, including three in Scotland. Kiryakov won more than 50 caps for Bulgaria, and represented the nation at the 1994 World Cup and Euro 1996. Club career Kiryakov was born in the small town of Lesicheri. Tsanko Nikolaev Tsvetanov ( bg, Цанко Hиколaeв Цветанов; born 6 January 1970) is a Bulgarian former professional footballer who played as a left-back. After ending his playing career he began coaching. Club career Tsvetanov was born in Svishtov, Bulgaria. His professional career began in 1987 by playing one season for Akademik Svishtov. Soon he was noticed by Etar Veliko Tarnovo, a team that was a powerhouse in Bulgarian football at the time. He played five seasons and over 140 league matches for the Bolyars. In 1993, he was transferred to Levski Sofia, the champions of Bulgaria for the previous season. After leaving Levski he had a brief stay at Waldhof Mannheim. He signed for Aberdeen in the summer of 1996 and returned in Germany to play three seasons for FC Energie Cottbus. He ended his career at Etar Veliko Tarnovo.
