FC Dorostol 2003
FC Dorostol ( bg, ФК Доростол) is a Bulgarian football club based in Silistra, who currently plays at the North-East Third League, the third division of Bulgarian football. Its home stadium "Louis Ayer" has a capacity of 12 000 seats. Club colors are blue and white. The club was officially founded in 1945. However it exists informally from 1902, which makes it the oldest Bulgarian football club. History The original founding year of Dorostol is considered to be the year 1902. The club was originally affiliated with the Bulgarian school in Silistra, whose students founded the sports society "Strela", meaning arrow in Bulgarian. Their first kit was black, which was also the color of the uniforms of the students from the school. From 1903 to 1909, the gymnastics teacher at the school was Louis Eyer, a Swiss gymnasist. Louis Eyer
Louis-Emil Eyer ( bg, Луи-Емил Айер) (28 October 1865–2 September 1916) was a Switzerland, Swiss-Bulgarian sports pedagogue and public figure regarded as the founder of the sports movement in Bulgaria. Born in Bex, Switzerland, Bex in the Canton of Vaud, Eyer studied in Lausanne, Geneva and Neuchâtel and taught sport disciplines in Vevey. In 1894, Eyer and nine other Swiss pedagogues, including Georges de Regibus and Charles Champaud, were invited to Bulgaria by the Minister of Education Georgi Zhivkov to lay the foundations of sports education in the country. Eyer taught physical education in Lom, Bulgaria, Lom (1894), Silistra (1903) and Rousse (1909) and was the main coach of the Yunak Gymnastic Society, Yunak sports associationsaround the country. He introduced the sports of track-and-field, boxing, Powerlifting, weightlifting, wrestling to Bulgarian physical education. The Soviet Army Cup ( bg, Купа на Съветската армия, Kupa na Savetskata armiya) was an annual knockout football cup tournament held in Bulgaria between 1946 and 1990. Until 1982, it was the country's main cup competition, its winners would qualify for the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup.
