FC Brașov (1936)
Fotbal Club Brașov (), commonly known as FC Brașov, or simply as Brașov, was a Romanian professional football club based in the city of Brașov, Brașov County, founded in 1936 and dissolved in 2017. Originally founded as ''Uzinele Astra Brașov'', the team amassed 41 seasons in the top flight of Romania. Its kits were yellow and black, and it played its home matches at the Silviu Ploeșteanu Stadium. Since 2021, there are two clubs which assert to be the continuation of the original entity—the fan-owned SR Brașov and the new FC Brașov, which is supported by the local authorities. Alexandru Marc
Traian Alexandru Marc (born 16 January 1983 in Braşov, Romania) is a former Romanian footballer who played as a goalkeeper. Marc was promoted from FC Brașov's youth team at the beginning of the 2002–03 season of Divizia A. After only 10 league matches in three years he was transferred to Politehnica Iași, where he was the second-choice goalkeeper. He returned to FC Brașov in 2010 and two years later he was loaned to Corona Brașov. In 2014, when his contract with FC Brașov expired, Marc signed a deal for three years with Dinamo București. He was released by Dinamo in 2015 and reached an agreement with CFR Cluj. Marc is a former U-21 international. Iulian Chiriță
Iulian Chiriță (born 2 February 1967 in Târgoviște) is a Romanian former footballer who played as a midfielder and a manager. Club career Iulian Chiriță was born on 2 February 1967 in Târgoviște, Romania, starting to play youth level football at CSȘ Târgoviște. He started to play senior level football in 1985 at CS Târgoviște in Divizia B. He made his Divizia A debut on 18 March 1988 under coach Ion Nunweiller in a 2–0 away loss against Universitatea Craiova, also during his period spent at the club he made his debut in European competitions, playing in both legs of the 4–1 loss on aggregate against Porto in the 1989–90 UEFA Cup. Tibor Selymes
Tibor Selymes (born 14 May 1970) is a Romanian former football player and current manager of Liga III club Știința Miroslava. Playing career Born in Bălan of Hungarian descent, Selymes made his debut in Divizia A with FC Brașov in 1988. He later played many years in Belgium. Selymes got 46 caps for the national team between 1992 and 1999, and was in the squad for the 1994 World Cup, Euro 1996 and the 1998 World Cup. Managerial career In September 2010 he was appointed as manager of Astra Ploiești. He was sacked in August 2011, after only two games from the 2011–12 season, both lost by Astra. He then took control of FCM Târgu Mureș, but stayed there for only three games, resigning after one draw and two defeats. He returned to Astra in November 2011. On 16 December 2011, he was fired from Astra, the second time this season. On 2 April 2013, Selymes returned to Dinamo, after 20 years. Dumitru Stângaciu
Dan Dumitru Stângaciu, (born 9 August 1964) is a retired Romanian football goalkeeper and a current coach. He is best known for his spell with Steaua Bucharest in the 1980s and 1990s where he won the European Cup in 1986 and the European Super Cup in 1987. He is one of the most famous and successful players who has ever played in the Romanian First League. Marius Lăcătuș
Marius Mihai Lăcătuș (; born 5 April 1964) is a Romanian football coach and former professional footballer. He is by far the most successful footballer ever to play for Steaua București and was part of their European Cup victory in 1986. Lăcătuș is the all-time top scorer for Steaua with 16 goals in European competitions. On 7 July 2021, Steaua retired his shirt number 7 at the inauguration match of the new Steaua Stadium. He played as a deep lying striker or inside forward for Steaua București most of his career, being the team's captain between 1994 and 1999. Csaba Györffy
Csaba Györffy (9 July 1943 – 18 October 2018) was a Romanian footballer who played as a winger. Career Csaba Györffy was the one who influenced Steagul Roșu Brașov to change its official colors from white and blue to black and yellow. The change came after in December 1966 Györffy went on a tournament with Romania's Olympic football team in Uruguay. After a match with Peñarol, Györffy received from captain Alberto Spencer the shirt with which he played. Györffy was fascinated by the combination of yellow and black stripes and decided at the return in the country to wear the shirt during his training sessions with the team. The decision to change the colors of the club was taken by coach Silviu Ploeşteanu, who considered that, in the new colors, the team will be seen better on the field. Valentin Stănescu
Valentin Stănescu (20 November 1922 – 4 April 1994) was a Romanian football goalkeeper and manager. Club career Valentin Stănescu also known as "Tinel" or "Zimbrul" ( The bison) was born on 20 November 1922 in București, Romania and started playing junior level football at age 11 in 1933 at local club Olimpia. In 1942 he went to play for Malaxa Tohan for a short while, afterwards moving at Sportul Studențesc București for three years. He made his Divizia A debut playing for Carmen București under coach Petre Steinbach on 16 March 1947 in a 3–2 away victory against Dermagarand Târgu Mureș. Iuliu Năftănăilă
Iuliu Năftănăilă (25 August 1942 – 28 August 1967) was a Romanian football midfielder. Club career Iuliu Năftănăilă was born on 25 August 1942 in Făgăraș, Romania and started to play football in 1959 at local club, Chimia in Divizia B. Two years later he was brought to Steagul Roșu Brașov by coach Silviu Ploeșteanu who gave him his Divizia A debut on 20 August 1961 in a 3–1 victory against Știința Cluj in which he scored two goals, having a total of 11 by the end of the season as the club finished on the 4th position. He remained at Steagul over the course of 7 seasons, the highlights of this period being another fourth place in the 1964–65 Divizia A season and the winning of the 1960–61 Balkans Cup.
