The Danish Scout Council (DSC; da, Dansk Spejderråd, formerly ''Fællesrådet for Danmarks Drengespejdere'', FDD) is the national Scouting federation of Denmark. Scouting was founded in Denmark in 1909 and among the charter members of WOSM in 1920. Denmark has 70,000 Scouts. History In 1920, ''Det Danske Spejderkorps'' (DDS) was among the founding members of the Boy Scouts' International Conference. The ''KFUM-Spejderne i Danmark'' (KFUM-S) gained an independent title of membership in 1924. In 1961, the World Scout Conference changed the statutes of WOSM requesting only one member per country. Thus, DDS and KFUM-S founded the ''Fællesrådet for Danmarks Drengespejdere'' which overtook the WOSM membership on 23 April 1962. World Organization Of The Scout Movement
The World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM ) is the largest international Scouting organization. WOSM has 173 members. These members are recognized national Scout organizations, which collectively have around 43 million participants. WOSM was established in 1922, and has its operational headquarters at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and its legal seat in Geneva, Switzerland. It is the counterpart of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS). The WOSM's current stated mission is "to contribute to the education of young people, through a value system based on the Scout Promise and Scout Law, to help build a better world where people are self-fulfilled as individuals and play a constructive role in society". De Grønne Pigespejdere
De grønne pigespejdere (The Green Girl Guides) is the only Guiding and Scouting organisation in Denmark exclusively for girls. It was established in 1919 as the KFUK-spejderne i Danmark (YWCA-Guides in Denmark) and changed its name to ''De grønne pigespejdere'' in 2003. De grønne pigespejdere is member of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts through Pigespejdernes Fællesråd Danmark. The uniform is a green shirt with a chequered scarf. Scouting And Guiding In Denmark
The Scout and Guide movement in Denmark consists of about ten different associations. Most of them are members of two large federations, but there are also some independent organizations. Affiliated to Danish Scouting and Guiding are the organizations in Greenland, on the Faroe Islands and in Southern Schleswig. Scouting in Denmark started in 1909. Danish Scouts were among the charter members of the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM), Danish Guides among the founding members of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS). Girl Guiding in Denmark consists of girls only, while some WAGGGS countries allow boys to be included. De grønne pigespejdere is the only association for girls only - all the other organisations are mixed boys and girls. 'Boy Scout' and 'Girl Guide' are both translated to the Danish 'Spejder'. Coat Of Arms Of Greenland
The coat of arms of Greenland is a blue shield charged with an upright polar bear. This symbol was first introduced in the coat of arms of Denmark in 1666 and it is still represented in the arms of the Danish royal family. In a Danish context, the bear was originally shown walking naturally, but an upright position was specified in 1819. The 1470 '' London Roll'' shows an arms captioned ''Le Roy de Greneland'' featuring a shield depicting a polar bear surrounded by three birds. This royal title did not reflect any official title, but merely that the arms could be used by anyone controlling Greenland.
