In electronics and electrical engineering, a fuse is an electrical safety device that operates to provide overcurrent protection of an electrical circuit. Its essential component is a metal wire or strip that melts when too much current flows through it, thereby stopping or interrupting the current. It is a sacrificial device; once a fuse has operated it is an open circuit, and must be replaced or rewired, depending on its type. Fuses have been used as essential safety devices from the early days of electrical engineering. ''FUSE'' was a Toronto-based Canadian non-profit arts and culture periodical published by Artons Cultural Affairs Society and Publishing Inc. ''FUSE'' was one of Canada’s longest running alternative art publications. Throughout its 38 year history, the focus has been the interchange between art, media, and politics. The magazine published its final issue in Winter 2013, under the editorial direction of Gina Badger. ''The Pretender'' is the fourth album by the American singer-songwriter Jackson Browne, released in 1976. It peaked at No. 5 on ''Billboard'''s album chart. The singles from the album were "Here Come Those Tears Again", which reached No. 23, and " The Pretender", which peaked at No. 58. History ''The Pretender'' was released after the suicide of Browne's first wife, Phyllis Major, and one of the album's songs "Here Come Those Tears Again" (co-written by Major's mother Nancy Farnsworth) is dedicated to her. ''Chas Jankel'' is the debut solo studio album by the English singer and multi-instrumentalist Chaz Jankel. It was originally released in 1980, on the label A&M. Ian Dury and The Blockheads's first and only album without Jankel, ''Laughter'', was released the same year. The first track on the album "Ai No Corrida", was covered by Quincy Jones a year later in 1981 and was a UK chart hit for him. Fuse Festival
Fuse or Fuse Festival, formerly Music Business Adelaide and Eat the Street, was an Australian contemporary music event held annually in the South Australian capital of Adelaide, from 1996 until 2012 or 2013. It showcased Australian musicians covering a wide range of genres in venues in the West End of Adelaide to industry professionals and fans, growing to three days in November 2003. The Fuse conference was a branch of the event, with international and Australian delegates. Both the festival and the conference aimed at imparting skills to emerging talent in the industry as well as networking. Fuse was a not-for-profit, largely government-funded event, managed by Music SA and the Adelaide Fringe, with a focus upon deriving outcomes for all those who attend the events. The Fuse were an indie rock band from Edinburgh, Scotland that were active between 1998 and 2005. History The band was formed in 1998. The initial line up comprised Kirk Kettles (vocals), Rob Doig (guitar), Garth Coates (bass) and Craig Stark (drums). After two years of sporadic gigging around the UK, they released their self-produced debut EP, ''The Ballad of Charles Godfrey Stilton'' in 2001 on music streaming platform PeopleSound. Coates left the band in 2000 and was replaced by Keith Livingstone.
