Funaadu
Funaadu is an administrative division of Fuvahmulah, Maldives. This is one of the largest wards in Fuvahmulah. The origin of its name lies in some large groves of the tree known locally as "Funa" (Calophyllum inophyllum) that were located on its southern end. Economy Fishing and agriculture along with white-collar jobs are the primary source of income. Large taro marshes can be found on the southeastern side of the ward which is the main source of Agriculture. Fuvahmulah
Fuvahmulah (Dhivehi language, Dhivehi: ފުވައްމުލައް) is an island (atoll) in the Maldives. It is under Maldives’ administrative divisions of Gnaviyani Atoll or Nyaviyani Atoll. The inhabitants speak a distinctive form of the Dhivehi language, known as "Fuvahmulaki baha.” Fuvahmulah means "Island of the Areca nut palms", ''Fuvah'' (or "Fuva") in the local language. Other places in the world like Penang in Malaysia and Guwahati in Assam, India, are also named after this nut. The original name of the island could have been Mulah, but was called Fuvahmulah (the ''Mulah'' with the areca nut palms) to distinguish it from Mulah (Meemu Atoll), Boli Mulah – another island in ancient Maldives. Faisal Naseem
Faisal Naseem (born 20 July 1973) is a Maldivian politician who is Vice President of the Maldives, following the election of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on 23 September 2018. He assumed office on 17 November 2018, and succeeded the former Vice President Abdulla Jihad. Prior to his election, Naseem served for many years in the social sector, particularly in tourism. Vice President Faisal fulfilled the responsibilities of the President for 3 hours and 30 minutes on 25th February 2022. Early life Faisal Naseem was born in the Funaadu division of the Maldives, on Fuvahmulah Island, on 20 July 1973. In 1986, at age 12, Naseem joined the social sector. Abdul Majeed Mahir
Abdul Majeed Mahir is a Maldivian politician, born in Fuvahmulah to Funaadu Ganduvaru Aisha Didi of Fuvahmulah and Velaanaagey Mohamed Didi of Male, Maldives. He served high government posts during the reign of his nephew, President Ibrahim Nasir, such as the position of Deputy Minister of Finance and the position of Deputy Minister of Peace and Security (Mahkamatul Aman Aammuge Veriyaage Naib) according to some sources. He also served as the President of Male Municipality from 1960 to 1961 and served in the Management of MWSC (Male' Water and Sewerage Company) during the reign of President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom. Fishing
Fishing is the activity of trying to catch fish. Fazeel Najeeb
Fazeel Najeeb is former governor of the Maldives Monetary Authority (2008-2013) where he is also the Chairman of the Board of Directors. A native of Fuvahmulah, Fazeel is also the Governor of Maldives to the International Monetary Fund, and the current Chairman of SAARC Finance, a network of Central Banks in South Asia. He began his public service in 1987 at the Ministry of Trade and Industry. He also had his own consulting firm, before taking up his doctoral studies in London. He assumed office at Maldives Monetary Authority in 2008. Fazeel holds a PhD in Commercial Law (Intellectual Property), an LLM in International Business Law, and a BA Honours degree in Economics. The Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) is the central bank of the republic of Maldives and was established on July 1, 1981, under the mandate provided by the "MMA Act" of 1981, located in the capital city of Malé. Ameen Faisal is the former National Security Advisor and former Minister of Defence and National Security of the Republic of Maldives.
