Fujikawa, Shizuoka
was a town located in Ihara District, Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan. As of November 2008, the town had an estimated population of 16,359 and a density of 529 persons per km². The total area was 30.92 km². On November 1, 2008, Fujikawa was merged into the expanded city of Fuji. Ihara District was dissolved as a result of this merger. Fujikawa Village was founded on April 1, 1889. It attained town status on January 25, 1901. The is a limited express train service in Japan operated by Central Japan Railway Company (JR Central), which runs between Shizuoka and Kōfu. Since October 1995, it has been branded as ''Wide View Fujikawa'', following the introduction of new 373 series EMUs replacing the previous 165 series trains. History The was introduced on 20 March 1956 as a "Semi express" train running between Fuji and Kōfu using 80 series 4-car EMUs. From 1 October 1964, this was extended to run to and from Shizuoka. From 5 March 1966, the service between Shizuoka and Kōfu was upgraded to "Express" status. A prolific creator of more than 50 books for children, her work is regularly in reprint and has been translated into 17 languages and published in 22 countries. Kyuji Fujikawa
is a Japanese former professional baseball pitcher. He pitched for the Hanshin Tigers of Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB) and the Chicago Cubs and Texas Rangers of Major League Baseball (MLB). Fujikawa pitched in the 2006 and 2009 World Baseball Classics as well as the 2008 Beijing Olympics. A prototypical power pitcher, Fujikawa is said to have one of the most explosive fastballs in all of Japanese professional baseball and is one of Japan's premier relievers. Early life and high school career Fujikawa was born in Kōchi, Kōchi, in 1980, a member of the so-called Matsuzaka Generation. His name "Kyuji" literally means "baseball kid" in Japanese, and is often used as part of the phrase "Kōkō-kyuji" (高校球児) to refer to a high school baseball player. Takayuki Fujikawa
was a Japanese football player. Playing career Fujikawa was born in Kawasaki on October 10, 1962. He joined Japan Soccer League club Yomiuri (later ''Verdy Kawasaki'') from youth team in 1981. He played many matches as goalkeeper in 1985–86 season. After that, he battles with Shinkichi Kikuchi for the position for a long time. In 1992, Japan Soccer League was folded and founded new league J1 League. However his opportunity to play decreased behind Kikuchi. He retired end of 1995 season.
