Fuji Stakes
The Fuji Stakes (Japanese 富士ステークス) is a Grade 2 horse race for Thoroughbreds aged three and over, run in October over a distance of 1600 metres at Tokyo Racecourse. It was first run in 1984 and held Grade 3 status from 1998 until 2019. The race was run over 1800 metres until 1996, and over 1400 metres from 1997 to 1999. It serves as a trial race for the Mile Championship. Tokyo Racecourse
is located in Fuchu, Tokyo, Japan. Built in 1933 for horse racing, it is considered the "racecourse of racecourses" in Japanese horseracing. It has a capacity of 223,000, with seating for 13,750. Tokyo Racecourse hosts numerous G1 (Grade 1) races, including the Japan Cup, Tokyo Yushun (the Japanese Derby) and the Yasuda Kinen, a part of the Asian Mile Challenge. Physical attributes Tokyo Race Course's grass course measures 2083m (1¼ miles + 234 feet) with two chutes (1800m and 2000m). Races can be run on the "A Course" rail setting (on the hedge), the "B Course" setting (rail out 3 meters), the "C Course" setting (rail out 6 meters), the "D Course" setting (rail out 9 meters) or the "E Course" setting (rail out 12 meters). The dirt course measures 1899 meters (1⅛ mile + 290 feet), with a 1600m chute. The jump course measures 1675 meters (1 mile + 215 feet). Masayoshi Ebina
(born March 19, 1969 in Hokkaidō, Japan) is a Japanese jockey. Nicknamed ''Ebi-Shō''. He is best known for riding El Condor Pasa. That won the Japan Cup (1998) and second in Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe (1999). In 2010 he won the Japanese Fillies' Triple Crown with Apapane. Triptych (horse)
Triptych (1982–1989) was an American-bred, Irish-trained Thoroughbred racehorse who won nine top-class races in Europe. She earned over $1.5 million in prize money. Triptych died in a freak accident in 1989 when in foal. Background Triptych was a dark bay mare bred in Kentucky by Nelson Bunker Hunt & Edward L. Stevenson. She was sired by Riverman an American-bred French-trained horse who won the Poule d'Essai des Poulains in 1972. As a breeding stallion he was highly successful, being the sire of many important winners including Irish River, Bahri, Gold River, River Memories and Detroit. Waverley Star (foaled 1982) was a New Zealand Thoroughbred racehorse who is best remembered for finishing second to Bonecrusher in the 1986 Cox Plate – widely referred to as the 'race of the century'. Waverley Star, who was known as Our Waverley Star in Australia to distinguish him from a 1976 foaling of the same name, won his maiden race as a three-year-old on 30 November 1985 at Pukekohe. Songline (horse)
Songline ( ja, ソングライン, link=no foaled 4 March 2018) is a Japanese Thoroughbred racehorse. She showed some promise as a two-year-old in 2022 when she won a maiden race on the second of her two starts. She developed into a high-class miler in the following year, winning the Kobai Stakes and Fuji Stakes as well as running second in the NHK Mile Cup. Yuichi Fukunaga
is a Japanese jockey who has won 29 Grade 1 races in Japan and abroad. He is affiliated with the Japan Racing Association (JRA) in Rittō. His father is former jockey Yoichi Fukunaga who was said to be a "genius" during his active career, and his uncle is Takashi Kitamura, also a former jockey. His wife is former Fuji TV announcer Midori Matsuo. Since July 2016, he has a management contract with Horipro, the entertainment production in which his wife is also affiliated. On December 8, 2022, following his trainer license issue being issued by the JRA, Fukunaga announced that he would retire as a jockey at the end of February next year and make a transition in to becoming a horse trainer. Normcore ( ja, ノームコア, link=no foaled 25 February 2015) is a Japanese Thoroughbred racehorse. She showed promising form in her first two seasons, winning both of her races as a juvenile in 2017 and taking the Grade 3 Shion Stakes in the following year. As a four-year-old she recorded a Grade 1 success in the Victoria Mile as well as taking the Fuji Stakes. Christophe Lemaire
Christophe Patrice Lemaire (Japanese:, born 20 May 1979) is a French-born jockey. He has enjoyed much of his success on the Japanese flat racing circuit, with the most wins at Japan Racing Association racetracks for five consecutive years since 2017. Career Lemaire began racing in 1999, after he obtained the license required for a French jockey. From there, he has steadily built up a good track record, becoming the seventh leading jockey in 2003, and winning the French Group 1 Grand Prix de Paris in the same year. Danon Platina (Japanese: ダノンプラチナ, foaled 23 March 2012) is a Japanese Thoroughbred racehorse and sire. He was the best two-year-old colt in Japan in 2014 when he won his last three races including the Asahi Hai Futurity Stakes and was the unanimous choice for the JRA Award for Best Two-Year-Old Colt. In the following year he finished third in a strong edition of the Spring Stakes and defeated older opponent in the Fuji Stakes. He remained in training for another three years but made only seven appearances and won only one more race, the Listed New Year Stakes in 2018.
