''From Hell to Hell'' ( be, З пекла ў пекла; russian: Из ада в ад, Iz ada v ad) is a 1997 Belarusian drama film about the Kielce pogrom directed by Dmitry Astrakhan. Dmitry Hananovich Astrakhan (russian: link=no, Дмитрий Хананович Астрахан; born March 17, 1957) is a Russian film director and actor. Honored Artist of the Russian Federation (2009). Biography Dmitry Astrakhan was born in the family of Leningrad historians Hanan Markovich Astrakhan and Susanna Markovna Manevich, natives of Belarus. He was the youngest, the fifth child in the family. At school I was fond of reading, math and sports. Belarusfilm ( be, Беларусьфільм) is the main film studio of Belarus. History Belarusfilm, under the name ''Belgoskino'' was founded in 1924. In 1928, the ''Soviet Belarus'' studio (''Савецкая Беларусь'') was founded in Leningrad. The studio was moved to Minsk in 1939. Film production was interrupted by World War II, and restarted in 1946, when the studio assumed its current name. Belarus has submitted films for the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film since 1994. The award is handed out annually by the United States Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to a feature-length motion picture produced outside the United States that contains primarily non-English dialogue. This is a list of submissions to the 69th Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film. The Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film was created in 1956 by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to honour non-English-speaking films produced outside the United States. The award is handed out annually, and is accepted by the winning film's director, although it is considered an award for the submitting country as a whole. Countries are invited by the Academy to submit their best films for competition according to strict rules, with only one film being accepted from each country.
