Friday Night (Lady Antebellum Song)
"Friday Night" is a song written by Eric Paslay, Rose Falcon and Rob Crosby. It was originally recorded by American country music trio Lady Antebellum on their 2011 album ''Own the Night''. It was later recorded by Paslay in 2013 as his third single for EMI Nashville, and as a song on his self-titled debut album in 2014. Lady Antebellum version "Friday Night" was included on the track listing of Lady Antebellum's 2011 studio album ''Own the Night''. ''Entertainment Weekly'' described the song as 80s-rock rave-up that sounds exactly like Eddie Money". In a review of the album, ''American Songwriter'' was critical of "Friday Night", calling it "a poorly drawn caricature of rock & roll". Lady A (formerly known as Lady Antebellum) is an American country music group formed in Nashville, Tennessee, in 2006. The group is composed of Hillary Scott (lead and background vocals), Charles Kelley (lead and background vocals, guitar), and Dave Haywood (background vocals, guitar, piano, mandolin). Scott is the daughter of country music singer Linda Davis, and Kelley is the brother of pop singer Josh Kelley. The band abbreviated the name to "Lady A" in June 2020 during the George Floyd protests in an attempt to blunt the name's associations with slavery and the Antebellum South, inadvertently causing a dispute with black blues and gospel singer Anita White, who had been using the name Lady A for more than 20 years.
