Achim Freyer
Achim Freyer (; born 30 March 1934) is a German stage director, set designer and painter. A protégé of Bertolt Brecht, Freyer has become one of the world's leading opera directors, working throughout Europe and, since 2002, in the United States, principally with the Los Angeles Opera. Since 1992, Freyer has developed a number of productions featuring his own troupe of performers, known as the Freyer Ensemble. Freyer staged a controversial production of Wagner's Ring Cycle in Los Angeles in 2010, praised by many critics but criticised by some of its own stars. Timothy Edward Freyer (born October 13, 1963) is an American prelate of the Roman Catholic Church, serving as auxiliary bishop for the Diocese of Orange in California since 2017. Biography Early life Timothy Freyer was born on October 13, 1963, in Los Angeles and grew up in Huntington Beach, California. Freyer is the only child of Jerry and Patricia Freyer. After graduating from Huntington Beach High School, he entered the St. John's Seminary College in Camarillo, California, where he earned his bachelor degree, followed by four years as a graduate student studying theology. Ted Freyer (20 May 1910 – 22 April 1984) was an Australian rules footballer who played with Essendon in the VFL during the 1930s. Family The sixth of the seven children of Peter Henry Freyer (1869-1945), and Mary Freyer (1871-1928), née Suffolk, Edward Laurence Freyer was born at Port Melbourne, Victoria on 20 May 1910. He married Elsie Olivia Holmes (1911-2001) in 1930. His brother, Bill Freyer, played VFL football with South Melbourne and Footscray in the mid-1920s, and his son, Robert Alan Freyer (1937-2011), played for Port Melbourne in the VFA between 1958 and 1965. Sasha Waters Freyer, also known as Sasha Waters, is an American documentary and experimental filmmaker, and educator. She is professor of Photography and Film at VCU School of the Arts in Richmond, Virginia. Waters Freyer has produced and directed 18 films, 14 of which originate in 16mm. With the exception of her first documentary, ''Whipped'' (1998), she has edited all of her films, including '' Garry Winogrand: All Things Are Photographable'' (2018). Peter Freyer
Sir Peter Freyer (2 July 1851 – 9 September 1921) was an Irish surgeon with an expertise in genitourinary surgery, best known at first as an Indian Medical Service (IMS) officer, for making popular the procedure for crushing bladder stones to allow them to be evacuated through the natural passages, a procedure known as a litholapaxy. Following retirement from the IMS after 20 years of service in India, he returned to England and popularized a procedure for benign large prostates. This was known as the suprapubic prostatectomy, a transvesical prostatectomy or the Freyer operation, where the prostate is removed through an abdominal incision above the pubic bone but below the umbilicus and through the bladder, and it included using suprapubic drainage post-operatively. August Freyer
August Freyer (15 December 1801 – 28 May 1883) was a Polish musician and composer, specializing in both performance and composition on the organ. Biography August was born in Saxony in 1801. He moved to Warsaw and began his musical career there as a double bass player. He became organist at the Warsaw Evangelical Church, had the organ rebuilt, and turned his church into a prominent musical location while becoming the prominent organist and organ teacher in Warsaw. He made a tour of northern Germany as an organist, from which he received wide acclaim. August was a musical pupil of Józef Elsner. He became a close associate of Adolf Friedrich Hesse. He promoted Hesse's music to Mikhail Glinka, successful in his performance to the point of reducing his listener to tears. Hans Freyer
Hans Freyer (31 July 1887 – 18 January 1969) was a German conservative revolutionary sociologist and philosopher. Life Freyer began studying theology, national economics, history and philosophy at the University of Greifswald in 1907, with the aim of becoming a Lutheran theologian. A year later he moved to Leipzig, where he initially took the same courses, but then gave up the theological parts. He gained his doctorate in 1911. His early works on the philosophy of life had an influence on the German youth movement. In 1920 he qualified as a university lecturer, and in 1922 he became a professor at the university of Kiel. In 1925, moving on to the University of Leipzig, Freyer founded the university's sociology department. He led the department until 1948.
