French People In Pakistan
There are a small number of French people in Pakistan, consisting mostly of expatriates, employees, French spouses married to Pakistanis and French people of Pakistani descent who moved back into the country, along with Pakistani-born people of French ancestry. There are under 4000 French expatriates in Pakistan. French nationals are working in various branches of Alliance française in Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad for promotion of French culture and language while also teaching French as a second language to the locals. They are also working as visiting faculties in educational institutes such as Pakistan Institute of Fashion and Design. Ayub Ommaya
Ayub Khan Ommaya MD, ScD (hc), FRCS, FACS (1930 - 2008) was a Pakistani American neurosurgeon and the inventor of the Ommaya reservoir. The reservoir is used to provide chemotherapy directly to the tumor site for brain tumors. Ommaya was also a leading expert in traumatic brain injuries. Ommaya published over 150 articles, chapters, and books. His research focused on cancer treatment, traumatic brain injury, a CSF artificial organ, and philosophy of mind. Through discussions with Congressman William Lehman Chair of the House Appropriations Committee responsible for the Department of Transportation, he developed CDC's National Center for Injury Prevention and Control, which as part of its mission focuses on traumatic brain injury. As part of this effort Ommaya commissioned the IOM report Injury in America. The report called for the creation of the CDC center. Sonya Jehan
Sonya Rizvi ( ur, ; born 24 April 1980), better known by her stage name Sonya Jehan, is a Pakistani film actress who predominantly works in Urdu and Hindi-language films. She is the granddaughter of legendary singer Noor Jehan and filmmaker Shaukat Hussain Rizvi. Jehan is known for portraying supporting roles in several critically acclaimed films, including the drama ''My Name Is Khan'' (2010), the English-language political thriller ''The Reluctant Fundamentalist'' (2012) and the coming-of-age musical drama ''Ho Mann Jahaan'' (2015).
