Freestyle Skiing At The 2022 Winter Olympics
Freestyle skiing at the 2022 Winter Olympics were held at the Genting Snow Park in Zhangjiakou and Big Air Shougang in Beijing, China. The events were held between 3 and 19 February 2022. A total of 13 freestyle skiing events were held. In July 2018, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) officially added three events to the Olympic program: big air for men and women, along with a mixed team aerials event. A total of 284 quota spots (142 per gender) were distributed to the sport, a decline of 4 from the 2018 Winter Olympics. A total of 13 events were contested, six for men, six for women and one mixed. Qualification A maximum of 284 quota spots are available to athletes at the games. A maximum of 30 athletes could be entered by a National Olympic Committee, with a maximum of 16 men or 16 women. Ilya Alekseyevich Burov (russian: Илья Алексеевич Буров; born 13 November 1991), also spelled Ilia Burov, is a Russian freestyle skier, specializing in aerials. Career Burov competed at the 2014 Winter Olympics for Russia. He placed 10th in the first qualifying round in the aerials, failing to advance. He subsequently placed 10th in the second qualification round, again failing to advance. Burov completed at the 2018 Winter Olympics representing Olympic Athletes from Russia. Qi Guangpu (; ; born October 20, 1990 in Xuzhou) is a Chinese aerial skier. He is a double world champion and the reigning Olympic champion in Aerials, who won gold at the 2022 Winter Olympics. Career Qi Guangpu competed at the 2010, 2014, 2018, and 2022 Winter Olympic Games. Although his performance in his first 3 Olympics was unsuccessful, and failing to win a medal (with a 4th place in 2014), his records at the FIS Freestyle World Ski Championships is much better, with a haul of 2 golds and 2 silvers from 2011 to 2017.
