Free (band), Free were an English Rock music, rock band formed in London in 1968, by vocalist Paul Rodgers, guitarist Paul Kossoff, bassist Andy Fraser and drummer Simon Kirke, the group signed with Island Records. The group is best known for their hit songs "All Right Now” and "Wishing Well (Free song), Wishing Well". Free's discography consists of six Album, studio albums, two live albums, 18 compilation albums, one extended play, EP, 16 Single (music), singles and two Video, video albums. The band released their debut album ''Tons of Sobs'' in 1969. The album entered the US Billboard 200, ''Billboard'' 200 chart at number 197. ''Free!'' is a Japanese anime television series produced by Kyoto Animation and Animation Do. The series is loosely based on the light novel, , written by Kōji Ōji, which received an honorable mention in the second Kyoto Animation Award contest in 2011 and was published in July 2013. The first season titled, ''Free! - Iwatobi Swim Club'' for international distribution, aired in Japan in 2013; and the second season titled, ''Free! - Eternal Summer'', aired in 2014. A third season of the anime series titled, ''Free! - Dive to the Future'', aired in 2018. Hiroko Utsumi directed the first two seasons, while season three was directed by Eisaku Kawanami. ''Highway'' is the fourth studio album by the English rock music, rock band Free (band), Free. It was recorded extremely quickly in September 1970 following the band's success at the Isle of Wight Festival 1970, Isle of Wight Festival but with an attitude of relaxation, the band having achieved worldwide success with their previous album ''Fire and Water (Free album), Fire and Water'' (26 June 1970) and the single "All Right Now". The ''Billboard'' Hot 100 is the music industry standard record chart in the United States for songs, published weekly by '' Billboard'' magazine. Chart rankings are based on sales (physical and digital), radio play, and online streaming in the United States. The weekly tracking period for sales was initially Monday to Sunday when Nielsen started tracking sales in 1991, but was changed to Friday to Thursday in July 2015. This tracking period also applies to compiling online streaming data. Radio airplay, which, unlike sales figures and streaming, is readily available on a real-time basis, is also tracked on a Friday to Thursday cycle effective with the chart dated July 17, 2021 (previously Monday to Sunday and before July 2015, Wednesday to Tuesday). The Official Charts (legal name: The Official UK Charts Company Limited) is a British inter-professional organization that compiles various "official" record charts in the United Kingdom, Ireland and France. In the United Kingdom, its charts include ones for singles, albums and films, with the data compiled from a mixture of downloads, purchases (of physical media) and streaming. The OCC produces its charts by gathering and combining sales data from retailers through market researchers Kantar, and claims to cover 99% of the singles market and 95% of the album market, and aims to collect data from any retailer who sells more than 100 chart items per week. UK Albums Chart
The Official Albums Chart is a list of albums ranked by physical and digital sales and (from March 2015) audio streaming in the United Kingdom. It was published for the first time on 22 July 1956 and is compiled every week by the Official Charts Company (OCC) on Fridays (previously Sundays). It is broadcast on BBC Radio 1 (top 5) and found on the OCC website as a Top 100 or on UKChartsPlus as a Top 200, with positions continuing until all sales have been tracked in data only available to industry insiders. However, even though number 100 was classed as a hit album (as in the case of The Guinness Book of British Hit Albums) in the 1980s until January 1989, since the compilations were removed this definition was changed to Top 75 with follow-up books such as The Virgin Book of British Hit Albums book only including this data. ''Fire and Water'' is the third studio album by English rock band Free, released in 1970. It became the band's breakthrough album, achieving widespread commercial success as the band's first two studio albums were not successful. With the "tremendous" acclaim of ''Fire and Water'' at their backs, in the words of AllMusic, Free headlined the 1970 Isle of Wight Festival with an estimated audience of 600,000 to 700,000 attendees and "appeared destined for superstardom". ''Fire and Water'' reached No. 2 on the U.K. album chart, being listed on it for a total of eighteen weeks. In contrast, neither of the band's prior two studio albums had charted at all. ''Free'' is the second studio album by English rock band Free, recorded and released in 1969. The band had spent time touring their debut album ''Tons of Sobs'' (1969) the previous year, and there is a marked difference in the musicianship of the band as well as Paul Rodgers's voice. Both albums were released by Island Records, with ''Free'' being produced by Chris Blackwell, the head of Island, taking over from Guy Stevens, who produced the first album. Recording This album saw the burgeoning of the songwriting partnership, glimpsed on ''Tons of Sobs'' with songs such as "I'm a Mover", between Paul Rodgers and 16-year-old bassist Andy Fraser; here, eight of the nine tracks bear a Fraser/Rodgers credit. Fraser's bass guitar is far more prominent than on the previous album, being used as a rhythm guitar to drive the songs, while Kossoff's lead guitar develops from it.
