Frederick F. Faris
Frederick F. Faris (1870–1927) was a Wheeling, West Virginia-based architect. Life and career Frederick Fisher Faris was born August 1, 1870, in St. Clairsville, Ohio to Joseph Anderson Faris, an artist, and Mary Elizabeth (Pratt) Faris. The family moved east to Wheeling when he was two years old. He was educated in the public schools, and after finishing high school joined the office of Edgar W. Wells, architect for Klieves, Kraft & Company, as a student. "F. F. Faris" in History of Wheeling and Ohio County and Representative Citizens', ed. Wheeling, West Virginia
Wheeling is a city in the U.S. state of West Virginia. Located almost entirely in Ohio County, of which it is the county seat, it lies along the Ohio River in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains and also contains a tiny portion extending into Marshall County. Shaw Hall
Shaw Hall is a historic dormitory located on the campus of West Liberty University at West Liberty, Ohio County, West Virginia. It was built in 1919–1920, and is a three-story red brick building in the Classical Revival style. The front and end facades are dominated by two-story porticos with Ionic order columns having a stucco shaft. It was built as the first dormitory on campus and housed female students. It is the oldest building on the campus of West Liberty University. The building now houses classrooms and administrative offices. The building is named for John C. Shaw, president of West Liberty Normal School from 1908 to 1919. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1996. Wheeling Warehouse Historic District is a national historic district located at Wheeling, Ohio County, West Virginia. The district includes 20 contributing buildings and 11 contributing structures. They are warehouses and commercial style buildings and structures between Main Street and the Ohio River. All of the buildings date to the late-19th and early-20th century. Wellsburg, West Virginia
Wellsburg is a city in and the county seat of Brooke County, West Virginia, United States. The 2020 census recorded a population of 2,455. It is a part of the Weirton–Steubenville metropolitan area. The city's economy includes several telemarketing facilities, and a factory that does metal fabrication and plastics molding. History The town was laid out in 1790, and its post office was opened on September 1, 1870. In 1772, the Cox brothers, Friend, Israel, and Jonathan, made tomahawk rights claims totaling in the area now including Wellsburg. In March 1788, Charles Prather purchased from the Cox heirs for $3,000. In 1791, Prather petitioned Ohio County to incorporate the town of Charlestown, Virginia, naming it after himself.
