Frederic Calland Williams
Sir Frederic Calland Williams, (26 June 1911 – 11 August 1977), known as F.C. Williams or Freddie Williams, was an English engineer, a pioneer in radar and computer technology. Education Williams was born in Romiley, Stockport, and educated at Stockport Grammar School. He gained a scholarship to study engineering at the University of Manchester where he was awarded Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees. He was awarded a Doctor of Philosophy degree in 1936 for research carried out as a postgraduate student of Magdalen College, Oxford. Research and career Working at the Telecommunications Research Establishment (TRE), Williams was a substantial contributor during World War II to the development of radar. In 1946 he was appointed as head of the Electrical Engineering Department of the University of Manchester. Freddie Williams (speedway Rider)
Freddie Williams (12 March 1926 – 20 January 2013) was a motorcycle speedway rider from Wales who was World Champion on two occasions. He was the winner of the Speedway World Championship in 1950 and 1953 and runner-up in 1952. Freddie E. Williams II (born May 30, 1977) is an American comic book writer and artist. Williams entered the comic scene in 2005, when he began work with DC Comics on the comic series Robin and on the Eisner Award-winning series ''Seven Soldiers: Mister Miracle''. He has since gone on to work on several crossover series including ''Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles'', ''Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II'', ''He-Man/ThunderCats'' and ''Injustice vs. Masters of the Universe''. Early life Williams was born in Little Rock, Arkansas, grew up in Kansas City, Kansas, and now lives in Lees Summit, Missouri with his wife. Freddie "Fearless" Sidney Williams (28 October 1942 – 21 June 2008) was a Scottish businessman, gambler and bookmaker. Born in the Ayrshire mining village of Cumnock, he was spared a career as a miner due to ill health at the age of 15 and went on to work for local soft drinks company Currie's of Auchinleck. Following a successful management buyout, and subsequent sale, Williams became a millionaire. It was at Currie's that he first took to gambling. For years he was a boomaker's-runner, before taking up his first bookmaking pitch at Auchinleck Greyhound Stadium. In 1974 Williams bought his first horseracing bookmaking pitch at Ayr Racecourse. He subsequently went on to purchase pitches, including Irvine Racecourse, Hamilton Park Racecourse, Musselburgh Racecourse, Perth Racecourse and Cheltenham Racecourse. Frederick Lawrence "Freddy" Williams (born February 24, 1962, in Cape Town, South Africa) is a Canadian track and field athlete, known for running middle distances. He represented Canada in the 1992 Olympics running the 800 metres and anchoring the Canadian 4 x 400 metres relay team. He also ran in the IAAF World Championships in Athletics, in both 1991 and as a 6th place finalist in 1993 beating the 1992 Olympic gold medalist William Tanui in the process. Freddie Williams Jr. (September 2, 1955 – May 14, 2014) was an American football running back in the Canadian Football League (CFL) for the Saskatchewan Roughriders. He played college football at Arizona State University. Early years Williams attended Dixie Hollins High School. He accepted a football scholarship from Arizona State University. His teammates gave him the nickname "Fast Freddie". As a sophomore, he was named the starter at running back after Woody Green graduated. He had a breakout season, leading the Western Athletic Conference in several categories. He posted 249 carries (led the conference), 1,299 rushing yards (led the conference), a 5.2-yard average (led the conference) and 8 rushing touchdowns (second in the conference).
