Fred Campbell (Australian Footballer)
Fred Campbell (born 14 December 1979) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Sydney and St Kilda in the AFL in 1999 and 2000. Originally from the Pioneer Football Club in Alice Springs, Campbell was drafted by the Swans with the 40th selection in the 1997 AFL draft, three selections before the Swans selected future dual Brownlow Medalist, dual premiership player, four-time All-Australian, member of the Indigenous Team of the Century and 350 game player Adam Goodes. After five games for Sydney in 1999 he left the club to return home to Alice Springs. The Central Australian Football League (CAFL) is an Australian rules football competition operating out of Alice Springs in the Northern Territory, Australia. Established in 1947, the CAFL is the oldest, most popular and important football league in Central Australia. It is notable for producing VFL/AFL players such as Darryl White, Joel Bowden and Liam Jurrah. The home of the CAFL is Traeger Park. The 2000 AFL season was the 104th season of the Australian Football League (AFL), the highest level senior Australian rules football competition in Australia, which was known as the Victorian Football League until 1989. The season featured sixteen clubs. It ran from 8 March until 2 September, scheduled as the earliest season in history to avoid a clash with the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney. The season comprised a 22-game home-and-away season followed by a finals series featuring the top eight clubs. The premiership was won by the Essendon Football Club for the 16th time, after it defeated by 60 points in the AFL Grand Final. Essendon lost only one match for the season, its 24–1 season win-loss record standing as the best in the league's history. Sydney Swans
The Sydney Swans are a professional Australian rules football club based in Sydney, New South Wales. The men's team competes in the Australian Football League (AFL), and the women's team in the AFL Women's (AFLW). The Swans also field a reserves men's team in the Victorian Football League (VFL). The club's origins trace back to 21 March 1873, when a meeting was held at the Clarendon Hotel in South Melbourne to establishing a junior football club, to be called the South Melbourne Football Club. The club commenced playing in 1874 at its home ground; Lakeside Oval in Albert Park. Adam Roy Goodes (born 8 January 1980) is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played for the Sydney Swans in the Australian Football League (AFL). Goodes holds an elite place in VFL/AFL history as a dual Brownlow Medallist, dual premiership player, four-time All-Australian, member of the Indigenous Team of the Century and representative of Australia in the International Rules Series. In addition, he has held the record for the most VFL/AFL games played by an Indigenous player, surpassing Andrew McLeod's record of 340 during the 2014 AFL season before having his own record surpassed by Shaun Burgoyne during the 2019 AFL season.
