Fraser Island
Fraser Island (Butchulla: ) is a World Heritage-listed island along the south-eastern coast in the Wide Bay–Burnett region, Queensland, Australia. The island is approximately north of the state capital, Brisbane, and is within the Fraser Coast Region local government area. The world heritage listing includes the island, its surrounding waters and parts of the nearby mainland. Fraser Island, and some satellite islands off the southern west coast and thus in the Great Sandy Strait, previously formed the County of Fraser, which was subdivided into six parishes. Among the islands were Slain Island, Tooth Island, Roundbush Island, Moonboom Island, Gardner Island, Dream Island, Stewart Island, and the Reef Islands, all part of the southernmost parish of Talboor. Fraser's Hill
Fraser's Hill is a hill resort located on the Titiwangsa Mountains, Titiwangsa Ridge in Raub District, Pahang, Malaysia. It is about north of Kuala Lumpur. In 1890, Louis James Fraser established the area as a tin mining community known as Pamah Lebar when he discovered rich tin deposits and opened a tin mining facility. Mining activity there was short-lived, as the tin ore was depleted in 1913. This led many miners and farmers to abandon the area. Fraser reportedly disappeared in 1910, but research in 2019 concluded that he retired from his position and returned to Great Britain in 1910. He died in 1916 while travelling in Austria-Hungary. An attempt by J. Ferguson-Davie to locate Fraser in the area failed. While he searched for Fraser, Ferguson-Davie recognised the area's potential as a suitable location to set up a hill station. Fraser is a residential neighbourhood in northeast Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. It is named after John Fraser, an original homesteader in the area and one of the first trustees of the Belmont School. The neighbourhood is bounded by the North Saskatchewan River and 6 Street to the east, as well as on the south by 144 Avenue. According to the 2001 federal census, three out of every five (62.6%) residences were constructed during the 1980s. One in five (19.4%) predate the 1980s with most of these being built during the 1970s. The remaining one in five (18.0%) were built during the 1990s. The most common type of residence, according to the 2005 municipal census, is the single-family detached home, single-family dwelling. William Fraser Anning (born 14 October 1949) is an Australian former politician who was a senator for Queensland from November 2017 to June 2019. Anning is known for holding far-right, nativist, and anti-Muslim views, and has been criticised for his use of the Nazi euphemism for the Holocaust, when he proposed a plebiscite to be the "Final Solution" to "the immigration problem" in his maiden speech. Anning also generated controversy for his statements shortly after the Christchurch mosque shootings in New Zealand, in which he blamed the attacks on "the immigration program which allowed Muslim fanatics to migrate". Fraser Wilkins (August 30, 1908 – January 21, 1989) was appointed the first United States ambassador to Cyprus after the country gained independence from the UK. Personal life Fraser Wilkins was born in Omaha, Nebraska, to Harry F. Wilkins and his wife. He graduated from Yale University. He married Anne Bryan, and they had one son, Fraser Bryan Wilkins. Career Wilkins served in various positions as a US Foreign Service Officer. He was director of the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs in the Department of State from 1955–1957, and during these years, he was stationed in Iraq, Morocco, India, and Iran. He then served as a minister-counselor in the US embassy in Tehran, Iran, from 1957–1960. Wilkins was appointed the first ambassador to Cyprus in 1960. He served in this position until 1964. Fraser Barron DSO & Bar, DFC, DFM (9 January 1921 – 20 May 1944), was an officer of the Royal New Zealand Air Force (RNZAF) who flew as a pilot with Bomber Command and was killed in flying operations during World War II. Born in Dunedin, Barron was working as a clerk when the Second World War began. He volunteered for the RNZAF and qualified as a pilot in late 1940. He went to England as a sergeant to serve with the Royal Air Force and after training on heavy bombers was posted to No. 15 Squadron, flying Short Stirling bombers. He completed a first tour of operations by April 1942, flying 39 missions, after which he performed instructing duties.
