Leonard Francis Newton (Quarter 3 1882 – 27 February 1959) was a footballer who played as a centre forward. He played for five different teams in the Football League. Leo Newton
Leonard Frank Newton (January or February 1888 – 7 February 1939), commonly known as Len or Leo Newton, was a Welsh footballer who played as a centre-forward or half-back and made one appearance for the Wales national team. Club career On Saturdays, Newton played for Cardiff Corinthians in the early 1910s as a centre-forward. He was also a founding member and captain of Cardiff Post Office Soccer Club, established in 1906, who he played for on Wednesdays. When called upon, Newton also played for Cardiff City as a forward or half-back, appearing in matches of the South Wales League. Between 1911 and 1914, he made four appearances for Cardiff City in the Southern League. The English Football League (EFL) is a league of professional football clubs from England and Wales. Founded in 1888 as the Football League, the league is the oldest such competition in the world. Derbyshire County Cricket Club
Derbyshire County Cricket Club is one of eighteen first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Derbyshire. Its limited overs team is called the Derbyshire Falcons in reference to the famous peregrine falcon which nests on the Derby Cathedral (it was previously called the Derbyshire Scorpions until 2005 and the Phantoms until 2010). Founded in 1870, the club held first-class status from its first match in 1871 until 1887. Because of poor performances and lack of fixtures in some seasons, Derbyshire then lost its status for seven seasons until it was invited into the County Championship in 1895. Frederick Newton (cricketer)
Frederick Arthur Newton (16 September 1890 – 8 August 1924) was an English cricketer who played first-class cricket for Derbyshire between 1909 and 1919. Newton was born at Denaby Main, Yorkshire. He was an all-round sportsman and played twice as goalkeeper for Chesterfield F.C. in 1905/6 and 1906/7, and later played football for Whitwell St Lawrence. He made his cricket debut for Derbyshire in the 1909 season in July against Northamptonshire when he made 30 in his first innings. He only played one more match that season. In the 1910 season he played a dozen matches. Against Warwickshire he achieved his best first-class score of 87 in the first innings. In the second innings of this match Arnold Warren and John Chapman achieved a record 9th wicket stand. Newton played two games in the 1911 season, three in the 1912 season and a final game in the 1919 season.
