Frank Newfeld
Frank Newfeld FGDC is a book designer, illustrator, art director and educator. Newfeld is arguably the greatest book designer of the 20th century in Canada. He has designed over 650 books and won more than 170 international awards. He is a former Vice-President of Publishing at McClelland & Stewart, Head of the Illustration Program at Sheridan College and Co-founder/President of the Society of Typographic Designers of Canada (now the Society of Graphic Designers of Canada - GDC). He is a Felloof the Society of Graphic Designers of Canada, and a member of the Royal Canadian Academy. in 2015, Newfeld was appointed to the Order of Canada. McClelland & Stewart Limited is a Canadian publishing company. It is owned by Penguin Random House of Canada, a branch of Penguin Random House, the international book publishing division of German media giant Bertelsmann. History It was founded in 1906 as McClelland and Goodchild by John McClelland and Frederick Goodchild, both originally employed with the "Methodist Book Room" which was in 1919 to become the Ryerson Press. In December 1913 George Stewart, who had also worked at the Methodist Book Room, joined the company, and the name of the firm was changed to McClelland, Goodchild and Stewart Limited. Sheridan College Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning (formerly Sheridan College of Applied Arts and Technology) is a public polytechnic institute of technology located in the west-Greater Toronto Area in Ontario, Canada. The Royal Canadian Academy of Arts (RCA) is a Canadian arts-related organization that was founded in 1880.
