Frank Gill (footballer, Born 1908)
Frank Gill (10 December 1908 – 23 June 1970) was an Australian rules footballer who played with Carlton in the VFL. He is a member of the Carlton Hall of Fame. Gill was a full back and was one of the longest kickers of the ball in his time. He represented Victoria in 1932 and captained Carlton the following season. Casterton is a town in Victoria, Australia, located on the Glenelg Highway, 42 kilometres east of the South Australian border, in the Shire of Glenelg. The Glenelg River passes through the town. Australian football, also called Australian rules football or Aussie rules, or more simply football or footy, is a contact sport played between two teams of 18 players on an oval field, often a modified cricket ground. Points are scored by kicking the oval ball between the central goal posts (worth six points), or between a central and outer post (worth one point, otherwise known as a "behind"). John Nicholls Medal
The John Nicholls Medal (formerly the Robert Reynolds Trophy from 1934 to 2003) is an Australian rules football award given to the player(s) adjudged best and fairest for the Carlton Football Club for the season. The voting system as of the 2017 AFL season, consists of four coaches giving each player a ranking from one to four after each match. Players can receive a maximum of 16 votes for a game.
