Frank Adams
John Frank Adams (5 November 1930 – 7 January 1989) was a British mathematician, one of the major contributors to homotopy theory. Life He was born in Woolwich, a suburb in south-east London, and attended Bedford School. He began research as a student of Abram Besicovitch, but soon switched to algebraic topology. He received his PhD from the University of Cambridge in 1956. His thesis, written under the direction of Shaun Wylie, was titled ''On spectral sequences and self-obstruction invariants''. He held the Fielden Chair of Pure Mathematics, Fielden Chair at the University of Manchester (1964–1970), and became Lowndean Professor of Astronomy and Geometry at the University of Cambridge (1970–1989). He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1964. Frank Dawson Adams
Frank Dawson Adams (September 17, 1859 – December 26, 1942) was a Canadian geologist. Early life and education Frank Dawson Adams was born into a prosperous, middle-class family in Montreal, Quebec. Adams attended the High School of Montreal (a private school founded in 1843 and closely associated with McGill University after 1852). As a pupil there, Adams received a classical education, and his knowledge of Latin was valuable later in life in his historical studies. At the age of sixteen he entered the Applied Science Program at McGill University, where he studied geology with John William Dawson (Principal of McGill since 1852) and Bernard Harrington (who had set up the Applied Science program). In unpublished notes he described Harrington as "the professor who influenced me chiefly." Francis Adams (8 February 1933 – 25 March 2009) was an English footballer who played as a goalkeeper in the Football League for Bury and Chester. Playing career Adams, born in Liverpool, Lancashire, was to spend most of his professional career with Bury, who he joined from local side Bury Amateurs. Between 1955 and 1963 he made 169 appearances in the Football League for the club. He missed only three games in Bury's Third Division championship season of 1960–61, the most successful in the club's history in terms of goals scored and points gained. In the summer of 1963 he joined Chester, in a busy summer which saw other players including Stan Bennion, George Evans, John Currie, Jimmy Humes and Gil Wheaton also arrive at the club. Frank Adam (18 August 1968) is a Flemish author, mostly writing plays and philosophical works. He began writing in 1992 and is a member of the editorial team of the Dutch-language literary periodical De Brakke Hond and in addition, he is a teacher at the writers academy in Bruges. Adam studied Arabic, Ancient Greek, Germanic languages, and literature.
