Francisco Javier García Fajer
Francisco Javier García Fajer ''El Españoleto'' (Nalda, Logroño 2 December 1730 - Zaragoza 1809) was a Spanish composer of the Italianate galante school. He studied at the choir school at Zaragoza Cathedral. As a young man he moved to Italy, where he was chapelmaster of the see of Terni 1754-56 and gained his Italian epiphet ''Lo Spagnoletto'', which he retained even back in Spain as ''El Españoleto''. The Italian musical environment during the 1750s was characterised by composers on the threshold between galante and early classical such as Niccolò Jommelli and Giovanni Battista Pergolesi. García Fajer returned home as ''maestro de capilla'' of la Seo in Zaragoza 1756 till his death during the French siege of Zaragoza in 1809. Nalda
Nalda is a municipality of the autonomous community of La Rioja (Spain). It is located near the capital, Logroño. Its population in January 2006 was 1,074 inhabitants over a 24.6 square kilometre area. History The town was the scene of the preliminaries of the famous Battle of Clavijo between Arabs and Christians in year 844. It appears mentioned for the first time in the 11th century, in the relation of properties that the king Don García of Nájera granted to his wife Estefanía. La mà de Guido is a Catalan music publishing house in Barcelona, Spain founded in 1986 by the composer and musicologist Llorenç Balsach (b. 1953). The name La Mà de Guido comes from the Catalan translation of the Guidonian hand. The primary notability of La Mà de Guido is in the publishing of music scores and editions for Catalan composers, living and dead. Cathedral of Tarragona Melcior Juncà i Farré (Sant Joan de les Abadesses, Ripollès, 1757 - Tarragona, 1824) was a Catalan ''maestro de capilla,'' composer and music theorist. Joan Rossell
Joan Rossell (1724–1780) was a Spanish composer, born into a musical family in Barcelona where his grandfather had played in the chapel of the cathedral, his father was a singer, and his brothers played violin the best orchestras of the country. In 1748 he became maestro de capilla at the Palacio Real de La Almudaina/Royal Palace of La Almudaina and later had the same position at the Cathedral of Toledo, where he was succeeded by another Catalan, Francesc Juncà (1742–1833). In his youth, Rossell composed in the style of the Spanish baroque, but in Mallorca he increasingly adopted the modern, gallant style. In music, an intermezzo (, , plural form: intermezzi), in the most general sense, is a composition which fits between other musical or dramatic entities, such as acts of a play or movements of a larger musical work. In music history, the term has had several different usages, which fit into two general categories: the opera intermezzo and the instrumental intermezzo. Renaissance intermezzo The Renaissance intermezzo was also called the intermedio. It was a masque-like dramatic piece with music, which was performed between the acts of a play at Italian court festivities on special occasions, especially weddings. By the late 16th century, the intermezzo had become the most spectacular form of dramatic performance, and an important precursor to opera. The first siege of Zaragoza (also called ''Saragossa'') was a bloody struggle in the Peninsular War (1807–1814). A France, French army under General Charles Lefebvre-Desnouettes, Lefebvre-Desnouettes and subsequently commanded by General Jean-Antoine Verdier besieged, repeatedly stormed, and was repulsed from the Spanish city of Zaragoza in the summer of 1808. Logroño
Logroño () is the capital of the province of La Rioja, situated in northern Spain. Traversed in its northern part by the Ebro River, Logroño has historically been a place of passage, such as the Camino de Santiago. Its borders were disputed between the Iberian kingdoms of Castille, Navarre and Aragon during the Middle Ages. The population of the city in 2021 was 150,808 while the metropolitan area included nearly 200,000 inhabitants. Giovanni Battista Draghi (; 4 January 1710 – 16 or 17 March 1736), often referred to as Giovanni Battista Pergolesi (), was an Italian Baroque composer, violinist, and organist. His best-known works include his Stabat Mater and the opera ''La serva padrona'' (''The Maid Turned Mistress''). His compositions include operas and sacred music. He died of tuberculosis at the age of 26.
