José "Pepe" Díaz (1776 - April 30, 1797) and Francisco Díaz (1777 - ?) were two cousins who served as Sergeants in the Toa Alta Militia. Both cousins helped defeat Sir Ralph Abercromby and defend Puerto Rico during an invasion in 1797. Francisco Domingo Díaz Oro was a colonel in the army of the Argentinian Confederation. He fought at the Battle of Angaco and was twice governor of San Juan Province, Argentina. He was a member of the Federalist Party but his administration was largely influenced by the Unitarian Party. His son Ramón Díaz was an outstanding lawman in La Rioja Province. Battle of Angaco Francisco Domingo Díaz participated with the rank of colonel in the Battle of Angaco in the Federalist Cazadores Battalion, composed of troops from San Juan. He was placed in charge of the battalion at the start of the battle after the death of Colonel José Manuel Espinosa. Francisco Díaz De León
Francisco Díaz de León (September 24, 1897 – December 29, 1975) was a Mexican graphic artist, notable for pioneering much of modern Mexican graphic arts. He spent his childhood around books and when he studied art in Mexico City, he specialized in engraving and illustration. He spent his career illustrating books, magazines and more, reviving techniques such as dry point and introducing new techniques and styles such as the use of color and linoleum printing. He was also a noted arts education, directing several schools including the Escuela Mexicana de las Artes del Libro (now the Escuela Nacional de Artes Gráficas), which he founded. He was a founding member of the Academia de Artes and a member of the Salón de la Plástica Mexicana. In 1969 he received the Premio Nacional de Artes for engraving. Francisco Díaz-Silveira Tamargo (Havana, 13 August 1936), known as Frank Diaz-Silveira, is a Cuban-American lawyer and politician, known as an anti-Castro Cuban militant. He was also an attorney in Florida and a former candidate for the Florida Senate, Mayor of Miami, Florida House of Representatives and Miami City Commission.
