Francis Thomas
Francis Thomas (February 3, 1799 – January 22, 1876) was an American politician who served as the List of Governors of Maryland, 26th Governor of Maryland from 1842 to 1845. He also served as a United States House of Representatives, United States Representative from Maryland, representing at separate times the Maryland's 4th congressional district, fourth, Maryland's 5th congressional district, fifth, Maryland's 6th congressional district, sixth, and Maryland's 7th congressional district, seventh districts. He also served as United States minister to Peru from 1872 to 1875, and speaker of the Maryland House of Delegates in 1829. Francis Wolferstan Thomas (January 9, 1834 – May 18, 1900) was a Canadian banker and a philanthropist in Montreal. Early life Born January 9, 1834, at Morwenstow, Cornwall, England, the son of the Rev. Francis Wolferstan Thomas, Rural Dean and Rector of Parkham, North Devon, a family held living through the Reverend's mother's family, the Wolferstans of Berry House, Hartland, Devon, descended from the Wolferstans of Statfold Hall, Staffordshire. Francis' mother was "a lady of the ancient and important family of Shearme, whose seat is Woodlands, Cornwall". The Thomas family were formerly possessed of large estates in Glamorganshire. Frank Thomas (bishop)
Francis Gerard Thomas (20 May 1930 – 25 December 1988) was an English prelate of the Roman Catholic Church. He served as the Bishop of Northampton from 1982 to 1988. Life Francis Gerard Thomas was born in Stone, Staffordshire on 20 May 1930. He was ordained to the priesthood on 5 June 1955. He was appointed the Bishop of the Diocese of Northampton by the Holy See on 27 August 1982. His consecration to the Episcopate took place on 29 September 1982; the principal consecrator was Cardinal Basil Hume, Archbishop of Westminster (and metropolitan of the diocese), and the principal co-consecrators were Maurice Couve de Murville, Archbishop of Birmingham and Patrick McCartie, Titular Bishop of Elmham.
