Abingdon was a constituency of the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom (and its predecessor institutions for England and Great Britain), electing one Member of Parliament (MP) from 1558 until 1983. (It was one of the few English constituencies in the unreformed House of Commons to elect only one Member of Parliament (MP) by the first past the post system of election.) History Abingdon was one of three English parliamentary boroughs enfranchised by Queen Mary I as anomalous single-member constituencies, and held its first Parliamentary election in 1558. The borough consisted of part of two parishes in the market town of Abingdon, then the county town of Berkshire. Francis Little (American Politician)
Francis Little (February 23, 1822January 6, 1890) was an Irish American immigrant, Wisconsin pioneer, and Republican politician. He was a member of the Wisconsin State Senate (1871–1875) and State Assembly (1864 & 1865), representing Iowa County. Biography Little was born in County Fermanagh, Ireland (in what is now Northern Ireland) on February 23, 1822. He received a common school education in Ireland and emigrated to the United States in 1842, staying for a year at the home of his brothers in Mercer County, Illinois. In 1844, he moved north into the Wisconsin Territory and settled at New Diggings, where he worked in the smelting shop of Stole & Leakley for four years. He then used his earnings to purchase a half-stake in a new general merchandise business with Leakley. After four years of that business, he parlayed his earnings to purchase 320 acres of land in what is now the town of Linden, including the historic site of Fort Washington, which had been utilized ...

Francis Little (tenor)
Frank Little (né Francis Easterly Little, on March 22, 1936; died on February 22, 2006) was an operatic lyric tenor and educator. Born in Greeneville, Tennessee, in the Smoky Mountains, he matriculated at East Tennessee State University, Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, and Northwestern University. Little's official debut was as Normanno in ''Lucia di Lammermoor'', in 1970, at the Lyric Opera of Chicago, his first of many appearances with that theatre, including the world premiere of Penderecki's ''Paradise Lost'' (as Michael), in 1978, which was seen at the Teatro alla Scala the following year. He also gave a private, command performance for Pope John Paul II. With the Metropolitan Opera, the tenor debuted as Narraboth in ''Salome'', opposite Maralin Niska, conducted by Erich Leinsdorf, in 1977. Frances Little (November 22, 1863 – January 6, 1941) was the pseudonym of American author Fannie Caldwell. Her first and most successful book, ''The Lady of the Decoration'', was based on her experiences in Hiroshima, Japan, from 1902 to 1907.
