Francis Gore
Francis Gore, (1769 – 3 November 1852) was an English military officer and British colonial administrator in Bermuda and Upper Canada. Gore was born in Blackheath, London, England in 1769 the son of Francis Gore and Caroline Beresford. Francis Gore senior was also a soldier and colonial administrator. Gore Sr became a governor of the West Indies in 1763. He had served in the Portuguese campaign of 1761 as aide-de-camp to Queen Charlotte's brother. Gore was commissioned as an ensign into the 44th Foot in 1787 directly from school at Durham, advancing in 1793 to lieutenant. Gore transferred to the 54th Foot in 1794 and the 17th Light Dragoons in 1795. He retired with the rank of major and became Governor of Bermuda from 1805 to 1806, and then Lieutenant-Governor of Upper Canada from 1806 to 1811. Francis Gore (cricketer)
Francis William George Gore (22 June 1855 – 17 July 1938) was an English first-class cricketer and British Army officer. The son of the Reverend George Gore and his wife, Frances Anne Rous, he was born in Somerset at Newton St Loe. He was educated at Harrow School, before going up to Christ Church, Oxford. Gore was also a student of the Inner Temple, but was never called to the bar. He made a single appearance in first-class cricket when he played for I Zingari against Yorkshire in the Scarborough Festival of 1881. Batting twice in the match, he was dismissed without scoring by Edmund Peate in the I Zingari first-innings, while in their second-innings of 236 all out he was unbeaten without scoring. He married Lady Constance Grace Milles, the daughter of George Milles, 1st Earl Sondes, in October 1885. He served as the deputy lieutenant of Monmouthshire in 1889–90. Francis Ormsby-Gore, 6th Baron Harlech
Francis David Ormsby-Gore, 6th Baron Harlech (13 March 1954 – 1 February 2016), was a peer in the United Kingdom. Early life Lord Harlech was born in 1954, the fifth child and second son of David Ormsby-Gore, 5th Baron Harlech, and his wife Sylvia Lloyd Thomas. He was educated at Worth School, a private Catholic school in West Sussex. His mother died in a car crash in 1967. His elder brother Julian committed suicide in 1974, making Ormsby-Gore the heir to the Harlech barony. The sixth baron Harlech eventually succeeded his father in 1985, this is after his father, the fifth baron also died in a car crash. He sat as a Conservative member of the House of Lords until the removal of the hereditary peers in 1999. Harlech lived at Brogyntyn near Oswestry and later at The Mount, Racecourse Road, Oswestry. Sir Francis Knox-Gore, 1st Baronet (1803 – 25 May 1873) was an Anglo-Irish baronet. Knox-Gore was the son of James Knox-Gore and Lady Maria Louisa Gore, daughter of Arthur Gore, 2nd Earl of Arran. He was educated at Eton College and Trinity College Dublin. Knox-Gore was appointed Lord Lieutenant of Sligo on 5 December 1831. In 1840 he served as High Sheriff of Mayo.
