Francis Evans (diplomat)
Sir Francis Edward Evans (4 April 1897 – 21 August 1983) was a British diplomat. Born in Belfast, Ireland, he was educated at the city's Belfast Royal Academy before being commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Royal Irish Rifles in December 1916. After serving in the First World War, he entered the civil service in 1919, and the following year completed a course for new consular entrants at the London School of Economics. Between 1920 and 1926 Evans was the British vice-consul at New York City, and for another three years after that at Boston. In 1929, he was sent to Colón, Panama, remaining there until 1932, when he again returned to the United States. He subsequently spent five years as consul at Los Angeles, and after a period at the Foreign Office he returned to New York as consul general there, an appointment he held until 1950. Sir Francis Henry Evans, 1st Baronet, (29 August 1840 – 22 January 1907) was a British civil engineer, businessman and Liberal Party politician. Francis Evans Cornish
Francis Evans Cornish (February 1, 1831 – November 28, 1878) was a Canadian politician. He served as Mayor of London, Canada West, in the early 1860s, became the first Mayor of Winnipeg in 1874, and was for a time a member of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba. Early life and education Cornish was born in London (then in Upper Canada), to a family that had moved to Canada from England twelve years earlier. He was educated in London, articled in law, and was called to the bar of Canada West in 1855. At age 26, he was appointed a QC. He was a successful lawyer, and was involved in the local masonic and Orange lodges. Political career London was incorporated as a city in 1855, and Cornish was elected as an alderman in its seventh ward three years later. He was re-elected in 1859 and 1860. Francis Evans (footballer)
Francis Evans is an Australian rules footballer who plays for the Port Adelaide Football Club in the AFL. Nicknamed 'Frank the Tank,' Evans was drafted with pick 41 by the Geelong Football Club in the 2019 AFL Draft. Evans did not come from the traditional avenue to the AFL. He was plucked from Brunswick NOBS in the VAFA and was a surprise pick to all draft gurus. Evans made his AFL debut on 26 March 2021 in a round 2 clash with Brisbane at GMHBA Stadium. After being delisted by the Cats in their premiership year, he signed for the Port Adelaide Football Club as a delisted free agent.
