Francis John Joseph Brennan (May 7, 1894 – July 2, 1968) was an American Cardinal (Catholicism), cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church. He served as dean of the Roman Rota from 1959 to 1968, and then as Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments, prefect of the Congregation for the Discipline of the Sacraments from 1968 until his death. Brennan was elevated to the cardinalate in 1967. Francis Brennan is an Irish hotelier and television personality. Personal life Brennan was raised in Balally Drive, just off Sandyford Road and close to Dundrum, Dublin. He went to Holy Cross National School, Dundrum, CBS Westland Row and Catholic University School (CUS) in Leeson Street where he was taught by the Marist Fathers. Brennan has never married or had children, and has described himself as being on the asexual spectrum. Sir Francis Gerard Brennan (22 May 1928 – 1 June 2022) was an Australian lawyer and jurist who served as the 10th Chief Justice of Australia. As a judge in the High Court of Australia, he wrote the lead judgement on the Mabo decision, which gave rise to the Native Title Act. Early life and education Brennan was born on May 22, 1928 in Rockhampton, Queensland. He was the son of Frank Tenison Brennan, a Labor Party politician, lawyer and judge of the Supreme Court of Queensland.
