''Fragile as the World'' ( pt, Frágil como o Mundo) is a 2001 Portuguese romantic drama film directed and written by Rita Azevedo Gomes and produced by Paulo Branco. The feature film stars two young people in love, Vera and João who run away from home and isolate themselves in a forest, promising never to be separated. The film premiered in Portugal on 20 July 2001. Plot Vera and John are two teenagers in love. Apparently, their life does not present them with any problems. They both have family and friends who love them. As the teenagers that they are, their whole life has been defined by others. The couple feels they have no space, and especially no time, to live their passion. Besides being busy with their studies, their homes are far apart. Cecília Benevides de Carvalho Meireles (7 November 1901 – 9 November 1964) was a Brazilian writer and educator, known principally as a poet. She is a canonical name of Brazilian Modernism, one of the great female poets in the Portuguese language, and is widely considered the best female poet from Brazil, though she combatted the word ''poetess'' because of gender discrimination. Vila Franca De Xira
Vila Franca de Xira () is a city and municipality in the Lisbon District in Portugal. The population in 2021 was 137,659, in an area of 318.19 km2. Situated on both banks of the Tagus River, 32 km north-east of the Portuguese capital Lisbon, settlement in the area dates back to neolithic times, as evidenced by findings in the Cave of Pedra Furada. Vila Franca de Xira is said to have been founded by French followers of Portugal's first king, Afonso Henriques, around 1200. Paulo Branco (born 3 June 1950) is a Portuguese film producer. Life and career Paulo Branco was born in Lisbon, and attended the undergraduate program in chemical engineering at the Instituto Superior Técnico but he did not graduate. He started to work at the Olympic Cinema, in Paris, with Frédéric Mitterrand, in 1974, for two years, and started his career as a producer in 1979 between Paris and Lisbon.
