Fountain Publishers is a publishing company in Uganda and Rwanda. Fountain is a publisher of educational material, literary material and maps. History Fountain Publishers was started in 1988 by James Tumusiime and his wife. Its first offices were on top of the former City Bar. Fountain employed only four individuals, with just a typewriter and four desks. Their maiden publication was, "Who is Who in Uganda", a miniature directory of politicians, religious men and academicians. Uganda 30 years, 1992, their second imprint is telling too. Timothy Wangusa
Timothy Wangusa (born 1942) is a Ugandan poet and novelist. Wangusa was chairman of Uganda Writers Association and founder president of International PEN Uganda Centre. Early life and education Wangusa is an ethnic Mumasaaba, born in Bugisu, in eastern Uganda. He studied English at Makerere University where he later served on faculty, and the University of Leeds (UK). He wrote his MA and PhD on British and African poetry, respectively. Wangusa started working at Makerere University in 1969. He was appointed as Professor in 1981 (the first from Bugisu). In his acceptance speech 'A Wordless World,' he looked at how words were starting to lose meaning and there was a continuous shift from words and speech. Taban Lo Liyong
Taban Lo Liyong (born 1939) is a poet, academic and writer of fiction and literary criticism from South Sudan. He was born in Kajo Kaji, Acholiland, in the Equatoria region of southern Sudan, but taken to Uganda at an early age. His political views, as well as his outspoken disapproval of the post-colonial system of education in East Africa, have inspired both further criticism as well as controversy since the late 1960s. Biography He was born in Acholiland, then a region of southern Sudan under British rule.
