Formal Approaches To Slavic Linguistics
The Annual Workshop on Formal Approaches to Slavic Linguistics (often abbreviated FASL) is one of the most reputable international academic conferences in the field of formal Slavic linguistics. Each meeting is hosted by a United States or Canada university in May. From the beginning through FASL 27, the proceedings were published by Michigan Slavic Publications of University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI. Guglielmo Cinque
Guglielmo Cinque (born 1948 in La Spezia) is an Italian linguistics, linguist and professor of linguistics at the Ca' Foscari University of Venice. He is one of the leading figures in modern minimalist program, minimalist syntax. Cinque studied literature and linguistics at the University of Venice, at the University of Padua, and at the University of California, Berkeley. Since 1981 he has been a professor at the Ca' Foscari University. He is an honorary member of the Linguistic Society of America. Cinque works in the fields of generative grammar and language typology. Morris Halle
Morris Halle (; July 23, 1923 – April 2, 2018) was a Latvian-American, Latvian-born Jewish United States, American Linguistics, linguist who was an Institute Professor, and later professor emeritus, of linguistics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The father of "modern phonology", he was best known for his pioneering work in generative phonology, having written "On Accent and Juncture in English" in 1956 with Noam Chomsky and Fred Lukoff and ''The Sound Pattern of English'' in 1968 with Chomsky. He also co-authored (with Samuel Jay Keyser) the earliest theory of generative metrics. Donca Steriade
Donca Steriade (born 1951 in Bucharest) is a professor of Linguistics at MIT, specializing in phonological theory. Education She began her academic career studying classics in Bucharest, after earning her B.A. (''licență'') in Philology from the University of Bucharest in 1974. She left Romania after her father emigrated to Canada. (She is the daughter of neuroscientist Mircea Steriade.) She earned her M.A. from Université Laval in 1976, She studied for her PhD at the MIT Department of Linguistics and Philosophy under Morris Halle.
