Forest Hills is a part of the Jamaica Plain neighborhood of Boston, Massachusetts, United States. Forest Hills is characterized by hilly terrain and wooded areas within and adjacent to its borders. In general, the area slopes upward from Hyde Park Ave and downward from Walk Hill Street. Forest Hills is primarily residential, although a number of small businesses are located along Hyde Park Avenue. Single family homes predominate south of Walk Hill Street, but triple deckers dominate near the train station. As in the rest of Jamaica Plain, many of the multi-unit houses have been converted into condominiums. A variety of home styles are represented including Arts & Crafts, Cape Cod, Colonial Revival, Queen Anne, Tudor Revival and Victorian. Forest Hills is a suburb in the Outer West suburbs of Durban, Kwa-Zulu Natal, South Africa. The area borders on the Kloof Gorge which forms part of the Krantzkloof Nature Reserve, and is situated in between Kloof and Waterfall which is also about 7 km from Hillcrest. Forest Hills is a subdivision in the community of Cole Harbour and in the Canadian province of Nova Scotia, located in the Halifax Regional Municipality. History Forest Hills is a new town developed by the former Nova Scotia Housing Commission, a provincial agency, which purchased the land in 1971. In the early 1970s, the Nova Scotia Department of Highways constructed the Forest Hills Parkway, the main road serving the development. Forest Hills was officially opened by housing minister Walter Fitzgerald on June 18, 1974. The master plan, released in 1974, called for eleven predominantly residential development phases as well as a town centre and an interconnected network of parks. Forest Hills (Tampa)
Forest Hills is a neighborhood partially within the city limits of Tampa, Florida, United States, with the northern portion located in unincorporated Hillsborough County near Lake Magdalene. In 1926 a golf course and club house was built there. In 1949, "Babe" Zaharias bought the clubhouse and golf course, and may have lived in the clubhouse for a time. She moved to a house nearby in 1954. In 1956, she died of cancer in Galveston, Texas and the course closed. The area was mainly a citrus grove until residential development began in the 1950s and 1960s. A developer from Miami wanted to buy the golf course land, but the City of Tampa decided to buy it and restore it. In 1974 the course was reopened. Since then it has been renovated, the courses were rebuilt and an irrigation system added. Forest Hills station is an intermodal transfer station in Boston, Massachusetts. It serves the MBTA rapid transit Orange Line and three MBTA Commuter Rail lines ( Needham, Providence/Stoughton, and Franklin/Foxboro) and is a major terminus for MBTA bus routes. It is located in Forest Hills, in the southern part of the Jamaica Plain neighborhood.
