Football is the most popular sport in Cape Verde. The league is divided into eleven divisions, of which seven of them are singles and two islands, Santiago and Santo Antão has two zones since 2000. The football association is a federation which is known as the Cape Verdean Football Federation, it became affiliated with CAF in 1986 and later with FIFA in 2001. Cape Verdean Football Federation
The Cape Verdean Football Federation ( pt, Federação Caboverdiana de Futebol, FCF) is the governing body of football in Cape Verde. It was founded in 1982, affiliated to FIFA in 1986 and to CAF in 2000. It organizes the national football league and the national team. Its current president is Victor Osório since 2015. The federation is headquartered in the capital city of Praia and is located on Avenida Cidade de Lisboa in the subdivision of Várzea where the sport complexes are located. Its office is just south of Estádio da Várzea and features a small field on the east part. The building was completed in 2006 after the nearby stadium was also repaired. Since 2013, the Caixa building is adjacent to its offices. Sal Island League
The Sal Premier Division is a regional championship played in Sal Island, Cape Verde. The winner of the championship plays in Cape Verdean football Championships of each season. The competition are organized by the Sal Regional Football Association (Associação Regional de Futebol de Sal, ARFS). The Premier Divisions contains eight clubs. In title history, Académico do Aeroporto has the most titles numbering 14, and is ranked fifth in the most championship titles of any of the island leagues in Cape Verde. Santiago South Zone Cup
The Santiago South Zone Cup ( Portuguese: ''Copa da Ilha de Santiago Sul'', Capeverdean Crioulo, ALUPEC or ALUPEK: ''Kopa da dja di Santiagu Sul'') is the oldest regional cup competition in Cape Verde and is played during the season in the south of island of Santiago, Cape Verde consisting the municipalities of Praia, Ribeira Grande de Santiago and São Domingos. It consists of all the clubs from all the two regional divisions and are divided into about six rounds. The cup competition is organized by the Santiago South Regional Football Association (Associação Regional de Santiago Sul, ARFSS). The cup winner competed in the regional super cup final in the following season.
