Football At The 1967 Pan American Games
The fifth edition of the football tournament at the Pan American Games was held in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, from July 24 to August 3, 1967. Eight teams divided in two groups of four did compete in a round-robin competition, with Brazil defending the title. Canad Inns Stadium
Canad Inns Stadium (also known as Winnipeg Stadium) was a multipurpose stadium in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. The stadium was located at the corner of St. James Street and Maroons Road, immediately north of the Polo Park Shopping Centre and the now-defunct Winnipeg Arena. Although built for the Canadian Football League's Winnipeg Blue Bombers, the stadium also accommodated baseball and soccer, and was used by various iterations of the Winnipeg Goldeyes and Winnipeg Whips. The stadium was demolished after the Blue Bombers moved to Investors Group Field (now IG Field) in 2013. History During the Blue Bombers' early years, the team played at Osborne Stadium, a much smaller venue located near the Manitoba Legislative Buildings. Héctor Pulido
Héctor Pulido Rodríguez (20 December 1942 – 18 February 2022) was a Mexican football player and manager who played as a midfielder. He played for the Mexico national team between 1967 and 1973, gaining 43 caps and scoring six goals. He was part of the Mexico squad for the 1970 FIFA World Cup. Career At club level, Pulido played for Cruz Azul and Club Jalisco. Football At The Pan American Games
Football (soccer) at the Pan American Games has been included in every Pan American Games as a men's competition sport, since the first edition of the multi-sports event in 1951. The competition is organized by the Pan American Sports Organization. So as to avoid competition with the World Cup, FIFA have restricted participation of elite players in the men's tournament in various ways. Currently squads for the men's tournament are required to be composed of players under 22 years of age. The tournament was played in league format from 1951 to 1963, neither final nor bronze medal match hosted. Another format was used in 1971, this time the tournament was played in group format in early stages, but played in league format for final stages. The 1983 tournament saw only 3 teams played in the final group stages, with the first and final time the tournament did not have the fourth place team. A women's tournament was introduced in 1999. Francisco Fariñas Gutiérrez (born 2 April 1948) is a Cuban former footballer who competed in the 1976 Summer Olympics. Club career Born in Havana, Fariñas came through at Las Cañas before joining Industriales where he spent his entire senior career. His year of birth is also reported as 1949 or 1950. Graham Adams (1 March 1933 – 14 February 2020) was a football player and football coach. During his career as a player, he played for Plymouth Argyle F.C. and Oxford United F.C. In September 1961 he was appointed coach of the then amateur club Wycombe Wanderers F.C. - a position he held until the end of the season. Ignacio Trelles
Ignacio Trelles Campos (31 July 1916 – 24 March 2020) was a Mexican football player and manager. As a player with Club Necaxa, they won three Mexican championships. Later he coached amongst others the Mexico national team. A seasoned and decorated manager, Trelles managed 1083 club matches, with 463 wins, 319 draws and 301 losses. He took Cruz Azul to consecutive México Primera División (Mexico First Division) championships, 1979 and 1980; a feat the team has yet to repeat. Early life Trelles was born in Guadalajara.
