Alexis Calatayud is an American politician serving as a member of the Florida Senate for the 38th district. She assumed office on November 8, 2022. Education Calatayud earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science, international relations, and Spanish from Florida International University. Career As a college student, Calatayud interned in the office of Senator Marco Rubio. After graduating from college, she was a fellow at the National Campus Leadership Council in Washington, D.C. Jason William Barnet Pizzo is an American attorney and politician who served as a member of the Florida Senate for the 38th district from 2018 to 2022. Prior to his election, Pizzo was an Assistant State Attorney, with the Miami Dade State Attorney's Office. Career Pizzo first ran for the State Senate against Daphne Campbell, in the Democratic primary Pizzo won 24% behind Campbell with 31%. Pizzo then in 2018 ran again and in the primary received 54% to Campbell's 46%. Pizzo was elected to the Florida legislature on November 6, 2018, running unopposed. Daphne Campbell (born May 19, 1957) is a former Democratic member of the Florida Senate who represented the 38th district, including Miami Beach, North Miami, and other parts of northeastern Miami-Dade County, since 2016. René García (born July 10, 1974) is a Republican politician from Florida. He has served on the Miami-Dade County Commission since 2020, representing the Hialeah area. He previously served in the Florida House of Representatives from 2000 to 2008 and in the Florida Senate from 2010 to 2018. History García was born in Hialeah and attended Miami-Dade Community College, where he graduated with an Associate degree in 1996. Afterwards, he attended Florida International University, where he received a degree in political science in 1999.
