Ray Rodrigues
Raymond Wesley Rodrigues (born April 17, 1970) is a Republican member of the Florida Senate, representing parts of Lee County since 2020. Previously, he served four terms in the Florida House of Representatives, representing southern and coastal Lee County from 2012 to 2020. His campaign website describes him as conservative. History Rodrigues was born in Pensacola and attended Berry College in Rome, Georgia, where he received a scholarship from the WinShape Foundation and graduated in 1992. Following graduation, he moved to Estero, where he became an active member of the community, eventually working as the Budget Manager for the College of Arts and Sciences at Florida Gulf Coast University. Rodrigues has been active in the Lee County Republican Party since 1995, serving in various capacities including Vice-Chairman from 2010 to 2012. Florida Senate
The Florida Senate is the upper house of the Florida Legislature, the state legislature of the U.S. state of Florida, the Florida House of Representatives being the lower house. Article III, Section 1 of the Constitution of Florida, adopted in 1968, defines the role of the Legislature and how it is to be constituted. The Senate is composed of 40 members, each elected from a single-member district with a population of approximately 540,000 residents. Legislative districts are drawn on the basis of population figures, provided by the federal decennial census. Senators' terms begin immediately upon their election. Lee County is located in Southwest Florida on the Gulf Coast. As of the 2020 census, the population was 760,822. The county seat is Fort Myers (with a population of 86,395 as of the 2020 census), and the largest city is Cape Coral with an estimated 2020 population of 194,016. Alan Trask
William Alan Trask (June 26, 1933 – January 9, 2019) was an American politician in the state of Florida. Trask was born in Bartow, Florida. He attended the University of Florida and Florida Southern College. He was elected to the State Senate for the 27th district in 1968 and served until 1971. He was redistricted to the 13th district in 1973, and served until 1982. He was a former president pro tempore of the senate and was a member of the Democratic Party. In 1981, he and Florida Representative Tom Bush successfully attached an amendment to the state budget that would deny funding to any state university that advocated sexual activity between unmarried adults. Within months, Florida's Supreme Court unanimously ruled the provision an unconstitutional violation of the First Amendment. Tom Lewis (American Politician)
Thomas F. Lewis (October 26, 1924 – August 1, 2003) was a Republican member of the United States House of Representatives from Florida. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Lewis attended the St. Edwards School and graduated from Central High School in 1942. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army Air Forces as a gunner aboard a B-25 bomber, and continued service in the U.S. Air Force on the ground in the Korean War, being discharged at the rank of master sergeant in 1954. Lewis attended Palm Beach Junior College, and graduated from the University of Florida with a business degree in 1959. For 17 years, he was an executive with the aircraft company Pratt & Whitney, followed by work in real estate investment. Ken Pruitt
Ken Pruitt (born January 24, 1957) is an American politician who served as a member of the Florida Senate. A Republican, he represented the 28th District from 2000 to 2009, which included portions of Indian River, Martin, Okeechobee, Palm Beach and St. Lucie Counties. He was previously a member of the Florida House of Representatives from 1990 through 2000. On November 21, 2006, Ken Pruitt was chosen by the unanimous vote of his colleagues to serve a two-year term as President of the Florida Senate. Dave Aronberg (born May 4, 1971) is the State Attorney for Palm Beach County, Florida and a former member of the Florida Senate. He was elected to the Senate in 2002 as its youngest member and served for eight years. He is a Democrat.
