Florida's 1st House District elects one member of the Florida House of Representatives. The district is represented by Michelle Salzman. This district is located in the Florida Panhandle and encompasses part of the Pensacola metropolitan area. The district covers the northern portion of Escambia County. The largest city in the district is Ferry Pass. As of the 2010 Census, the district's population is 156,030. This district contains the University of West Florida, located in Ferry Pass. Michelle Salzman
Michelle Salzman (, born July 5, 1977) is a Republican member of the Florida House of Representatives representing the state's 1st District, which includes the northern portion of Escambia County. She was elected to the seat in November 2020, after she defeated Democratic candidate Franscine Mathis in the general election. Prior to that she defeated incumbent Mike Hill in the Republican primary in August 2020. Early life and career Salzman was raised in Pensacola, Florida. After graduating high school in 1995, she says she joined the Army when she was 17 to escape an abusive home. Salzman states that her father was an abusive alcoholic and her mother became addicted to opioids when she was in middle school; Salzman has stated that both of her parents died at an early age from opioid addiction. Grover is a blue Muppet character on the popular PBS/HBO children's television show ''Sesame Street''. Self-described as lovable, cute and furry, he is a blue monster who rarely uses contractions when he speaks or sings. Grover was originally performed by Frank Oz from his earliest appearances. Florida's 1st congressional district is a congressional district in the U.S. state of Florida, covering the state's western Panhandle. It includes all of Escambia, Okaloosa, Santa Rosa, and Walton counties and portions of Holmes county. The district is anchored in Pensacola and also includes the large military bedroom communities and tourist destinations of Navarre and Fort Walton Beach and stretches along the Emerald Coast. Walter Bryan "Mike" Hill (born June 2, 1958) is a Republican politician from Florida. He served in the Florida House of Representatives from 2014 to 2016 and 2018 to 2020, representing the Pensacola area. Clay Ingram (born February 5, 1978) is a Republican politician from Florida. He served in the Florida House of Representatives from 2010 to 2018, representing parts of Escambia County. History Ingram was born in Pensacola, Florida.
