''Asplenium nidus'' is an epiphytic species of fern in the family Aspleniaceae, native to tropical southeastern Asia, eastern Australia, Hawaii (''ʻēkaha'' in Hawaiian), Polynesia,MacDonald, Elvin "The World Book of House Plants" pp.264 Popular Books Christmas Island, India, and eastern Africa. It is known by the common names bird's-nest fern (a name shared by some other aspleniums) or simply nest fern. Description ''Asplenium nidus'' forms large simple fronds visually similar to banana leaves, with the fronds growing to long and broad, with occasional individuals up to 6.6 feet (two meters) in length by up to two feet (61 centimeters) width They are light green, often crinkled, with a black midrib, and exhibit circinate vernation. Spores develop in sori on the underside of the fronds. These sori form long rows extending out from the midrib on the back of the outer part of the lamina (frond). The fronds ...

Caesalpinia Major
''Caesalpinia'' is a genus of flowering plants in the family Fabaceae. Historically, membership within the genus has been highly variable, with different publications including anywhere from 70 to 165 species, depending largely on the inclusion or exclusion of species alternately listed under genera such as '' Hoffmannseggia''. It contains tropical or subtropical woody plants. The generic name honours the botanist, physician, and philosopher Andrea Cesalpino (1519–1603). The name Caesalpinaceae at family level, or Caesalpinioideae at the level of subfamily, is based on this generic name. Species * ''Caesalpinia acapulcensis'' Standl. * '' Caesalpinia anacantha'' Urb. * '' Caesalpinia bahamensis'' Lam. * ''Caesalpinia barahonensis'' Urb. * ''Caesalpinia brasiliensis'' L. * '' Caesalpinia cassioides'' Willd. 1809 *'' Caesalpinia erianthera'' Chiov. * ''Caesalpinia monensis'' Britton—black nicker * ''Caesalpinia nipensis'' Urb. * ''Caesalpi ...

Bolbitis Lonchophora
''Bolbitis'' is a genus of ferns in the family Dryopteridaceae, subfamily Elaphoglossoideae, in the Pteridophyte Phylogeny Group classification of 2016 (PPG I). Two particular members of the genus are often grown as immersed water plants in aquaria, '' B. heudelotii'', and '' B. heteroclita''. ''B. heudelotii'', the African water fern, normally grows submerged in its native habitat, while ''B. heteroclita'' normally grows on the margin of water bodies, but will also grow submerged. Species , the ''Checklist of Ferns and Lycophytes of the World'' accepted the following species: *'' Bolbitis acrostichoides'' (Afzel. ex Sw.) Ching *'' Bolbitis aliena'' (Sw.) Alston *'' Bolbitis andreisii'' Fraser-Jenk. & Kandel *'' Bolbitis angustipinna'' (Hayata) Itô *'' Bolbitis appendiculata'' (Willd.) Boerhavia Tetrandra
''Boerhavia'' is a genus of over 100 species in the Nyctaginaceae family. The genus was named for Herman Boerhaave, a Dutch botanist, and the genus name is frequently misspelled "''Boerhaavia''". Common names include spiderlings and hogweeds. Taxonomy There are over 100 species in the genus ''Boerhavia'', which is in the family Nyctaginaceae, which includes the four o'clock flower. The genus was named for the Dutch botanist Herman Boerhaave, and often misspelt as "Boerhaavia". Common names include spiderlings and hogweeds. Description Some species are annuals and others perennials. In habit they generally are herbaceous. "Spiderling" refers to the appearance of those species that bear inflorescences on numerous long, slender stems, interlocking in a manner suggestive of a spider or spider's web. ''Boerhavia'' species generally are native to warm tropical regions. Significance Several species of ''Boerhavia'' are of importance as agricultural and horticultural weeds. Some are ...

Blechnum Vulcanicum
''Blechnum'', known as hard fern, is a genus of ferns in the family Blechnaceae, subfamily Blechnoideae, according to the Pteridophyte Phylogeny Group classification of 2016 (PPG I). Two very different circumscriptions of the genus are used by different authors. In the PPG I system, based on Gasper et al. (2016), ''Blechnum'' is one of 18 genera in the subfamily Blechnoideae, and has about 30 species. Other sources use a very broadly defined ''Blechnum'' s.l., including accepting only two other genera in the subfamily. The genus then has about 250 species. In the PPG I circumscription, the genus is mostly neotropical, with a few southern African species. Description Plants in the genus ''Blechnum'' (as circumscribed in the PPG I classification) are mainly terrestrial or grow on rocks; few are epiphytes. Their rhizomes may be upright or creeping and have scales with entire margins or at most a few very small teeth. They generally form stolons, which is a characteristic of ...
