Flood Tide (1958 Film)
''Flood Tide'' is a 1958 American CinemaScope drama film noir romance film directed by Abner Biberman and starring George Nader, Cornell Borchers, and Michel Ray. Plot A 10-year-old boy's testimony results in Bill Holeran being sent to prison. Steve Martin, landlord to widow Anne Gordon and her young son, suspects that something is amiss with the child's story, and resumes a romantic relationship with Anne that he had previously broken off, in order to get at the truth. Abner Biberman
Abner Warren Biberman (April 1, 1909 – June 20, 1977) was an American actor, director, and screenwriter. Early years Biberman was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, later moving to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He gained early acting experience as a student at the Tome School for Boys prep school. He also attended the University of Pennsylvania. Career He was sometimes credited under the pseudonym Joel Judge. Death Biberman died at his home in San Diego, California. His obituary in ''The New York Times'' gave his age as 69. He was survived by his wife and three sons. Joanna Moore (born Dorothy Joanne Cook, November 10, 1934 – November 22, 1997) was an American film and television actress, who, between 1956 and 1976, appeared in 17 feature films and guest-starred in nearly a hundred television series episodes. After 1976, personal problems derailed her career and she landed only two minor film roles. From 1963 to 1967, she was married to actor Ryan O'Neal, with whom she had two children, Griffin O'Neal and Tatum O'Neal. Moore's career hit its peak in the 1960s. CinemaScope Films
CinemaScope is an anamorphic lens series used, from 1953 to 1967, and less often later, for shooting widescreen films that, crucially, could be screened in theatres using existing equipment, albeit with a lens adapter. Its creation in 1953 by Spyros P. Skouras, the president of 20th Century Fox, marked the beginning of the modern anamorphic format in both principal 2.55:1, almost twice as wide as the previously common Academy format's 1.37:1 ratio. Although the technology behind the CinemaScope lens system was made obsolete by later developments, primarily advanced by Panavision, CinemaScope's anamorphic format has continued to this day.
