''Flight of the Knife'' is the second album by the Brooklyn area indie rock artist Bryan Scary and the Shredding Tears. It is the group's first album as a full band, as the previous album '' The Shredding Tears'' had been a solo effort primarily composed by Bryan Scary. It was released on Black and Greene Records in April 2008, and rereleased by Needlejuice Records on vinyl and cassette in October 2020. Musical and lyrical themes ''Flight of the Knife'' is a concept album centering on the character of Airship Valentine and his mission to pilot The Knife, an airship referred to as "the greatest flying machine ever to take the skies." Bryan Scary
Bryan Scary (born Bryan Treitler) is an American musician. Career Scary's career in music began in Brooklyn, New York City. He received a degree in film production from New York University in 2005. As a film student, Scary wrote and directed several student films including ''Sunset Town'' in 2003, and ''The Gun Play'' in 2005. His musical debut and first album, '' The Shredding Tears'', was released by Black and Greene Records on October 31, 2006. Scary played all instruments on the album save for the drums, which were played by Jeremy Black of Apollo Sunshine. In live performance Bryan Scary plays with his band, "The Shredding Tears." Genesis are an English rock band formed at Charterhouse School, Godalming, Surrey, in 1967. The band's most commercially successful line-up consisted of keyboardist Tony Banks, bassist/guitarist Mike Rutherford and drummer/singer Phil Collins. The 1970s line-up, featuring singer Peter Gabriel and guitarist Steve Hackett, was among the pioneers of progressive rock. The Electric Light Orchestra (ELO) are an English rock band formed in Birmingham in 1970 by songwriters and multi-instrumentalists Jeff Lynne and Roy Wood with drummer Bev Bevan. Their music is characterised by a fusion of pop, classical arrangements and futuristic iconography. After Wood's departure in 1972, Lynne became the band's sole leader, arranging and producing every album while writing nearly all of their original material. Middle of the road (also known by its acronym MOR) is a commercial radio format and popular music genre. Music associated with this term is strongly melodic and uses techniques of vocal harmony and light orchestral arrangements. The format was eventually rebranded as soft adult contemporary.
