Five Year Forward View
The Five Year Forward View was produced by NHS England in October 2014 under the leadership of Simon Stevens as a planning document. Publication and reception It received praise for brevity, being only 39 pages, and lacking the illustrations which had graced its predecessors. Like the NHS Plan 2000 with which Stevens was also associated it was supported by the great and good of the NHS, but in this case it was regulators - Monitor, the Care Quality Commission and the like, rather than the Royal Colleges and Trades Unions of the earlier plan. This new national leadership of the NHS issues an unprecedented warning to politicians, none of whom are included in the endorsements, that it cannot continue at current funding levels, and additional resources worth more than 1.5 per cent a year in real terms will be required. NHS England
NHS England, officially the NHS Commissioning Board, is an executive non-departmental public body of the Department of Health and Social Care. It oversees the budget, planning, delivery and day-to-day operation of the commissioning side of the National Health Service in England as set out in the Health and Social Care Act 2012. It directly commissions NHS general practitioners, dentists, optometrists and some specialist services. The Secretary of State publishes annually a document known as the '' NHS mandate'' which specifies the objectives which the Board should seek to achieve. Accountable Care System
An accountable care system is a system of healthcare provision which is intended to be integrated, and in particular to merge the funding of primary care with that for hospital care, therefore providing incentives to keep people healthy and out of hospital. It has features in common with accountable care organizations in the United States. England Accountable care systems were organisations in the English NHS which in some respects are intended to replicate the features of the American accountable care organization. Clinical Commissioning Group
Clinical commissioning groups (CCGs) were NHS organisations set up by the Health and Social Care Act 2012 to organise the delivery of NHS services in each of their local areas in England. On 1 July 2022 they were abolished and replaced by Integrated care systems as a result of the Health and Care Act 2022. Establishment The announcement that GPs would take over this commissioning role was made in the 2010 white paper "Equity and Excellence: Liberating the NHS". This was part of the government's stated desire to create a clinically-driven commissioning system that was more sensitive to the needs of patients. The 2010 white paper became law under the Health and Social Care Act 2012 in March 2012. Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust
Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust (NUH) is one of England's largest acute teaching trusts. It was established on 1 April 2006 following the merger of Nottingham City Hospital and the Queen's Medical Centre NHS Trusts. They provide acute and specialist services to 2.5m people within Nottingham and surrounding communities at the Queen's Medical Centre (QMC) and the City Hospital campuses, as well as specialist services for a further 3-4m people from across the region. A merger with Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust was planned, and Peter Homa, Chief Executive of Nottingham at that time took the same role at Sherwood Forest, but refused to accept responsibility for the trust's £2.5bn private finance initiative contract. Robustness is the property of being strong and healthy in constitution. When it is transposed into a system, it refers to the ability of tolerating perturbations that might affect the system’s functional body. In the same line ''robustness'' can be defined as "the ability of a system to resist change without adapting its initial stable configuration". NHS 111
111 is a free-to-call single non-emergency number medical helpline operating in England, Scotland and parts of Wales. The 111 phone service has replaced the various non-geographic 0845 rate numbers and is part of each country's National Health Service: in England the service is known as NHS 111; in Scotland, NHS 24; and in Wales, NHS 111 Wales. The transition from NHS Direct (0845 4647) to NHS 111 in England was completed during February 2014 with NHS 24 Scotland (08454 24 24 24) following during April 2014. NHS Direct Wales started a phased roll-out of a similar 111 service in late 2016 and completed it in March 2022. As of June 2018, the 111 number was not in use across Northern Ireland. Healthcare in Yorkshire from 2016 was the responsibility of 19 clinical commissioning groups, which were replaced by integrated care systems in July 2022. History From 1947 to 1974 NHS services in Yorkshire were managed by the Leeds and Sheffield regional hospital boards. In 1974 the boards were abolished and replaced by regional health authorities. Sutton Homes of Care is one of six vanguard projects focussed on ‘Enhanced health in care homes’ established under the Five Year Forward View in 2015. It is a partnership involving Sutton Clinical Commissioning Group, Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust, Sutton Health Community Services, London Ambulance Service, South West London and St George's Mental Health NHS Trust, the London Borough of Sutton, Age UK Sutton, St Raphael's Hospice, Alzheimer's Society and Sutton Care for the Voluntary Sector. It has established a number of initiatives intended to keep residents of the 70 care homes in the borough out of hospital, or to get out of hospital more easily.
