Alfred Fitchett
Alfred Robertson Fitchett (1836 – 19 April 1929) was the Dean of Dunedin from 1894 until 1929. Born in Grantham, Lincolnshire, England, in 1836, Fitchett was ordained in 1879, and graduated MA from the University of Otago in 1882. He was Vicar of All Saints' Church, Dunedin for 49 years, he continued at All Saints as well as being Dean: he was also Archdeacon of Dunedin from 1915 to 1919. In the 1928 King's Birthday Honours, Fitchett was appointed a Companion of the Order of St Michael and St George. He died in Dunedin on 19 April 1929, and was buried in the Dunedin Northern Cemetery. Billy Fitchett
William Alfred Robertson Fitchett (6 February 1872 – 15 August 1952) was an Anglican bishop in New Zealand. He was the Bishop of Dunedin from 1934 to 1952. Fitchett was born in Christchurch and his father was the Very Reverend Alfred Robertson Fitchett CMG of Dunedin. He was educated at Otago Boys' High School and Selwyn College, Cambridge. Ordained in 1901, he was curate then priest in charge of St Thomas' Wellington before being vicar of Dunstan and Roslyn. Frederick Fitchett
Frederick Fitchett (1851 – 5 October 1930) was a 19th-century Member of Parliament from Dunedin, New Zealand. Biography Born in 1851 in Grantham, Lincolnshire, England, Fitchett was educated at the University of Melbourne and Canterbury University College, Christchurch, graduating Bachelor of Arts in 1879 and Master of Arts in 1880. He was admitted to the Bar the following year, and began practising law in Dunedin. In 1887 he was conferred with an LLD from Canterbury. Fitchett represented the Dunedin Central electorate from 1887 to 1890, when he retired. In 1890 he was the junior opposition whip. In 1890 Fitchett visited London, where he married Lina Valerie Blain at St Simon's Church, Cadogan Square, on 16 April. The couple had one son. John Fitchett (c.1879 – 1942) was an English footballer who played at full-back or half-back for Bolton Wanderers, Southampton, Manchester United, Plymouth Argyle, Manchester City, Fulham and Exeter City. Football career Fitchett was born in Chorlton-cum-Hardy, Manchester and represented Manchester Schoolboys while playing his youth football with Talbot FC. In May 1897, he joined Bolton Wanderers where he remained for five years, making 76 appearances in The Football League. During his time with Bolton Wanderers he made three appearances for the Football League in representative matches against the Irish League in November 1899, November 1900 and November 1901, and also played in an unofficial international against Germany in 1901. John Fitchett (poet)
John Fitchett (21 September 1776 – 20 October 1838) was an English poet. Early life and education Fitchett was the son of a wine merchant at Liverpool. His parents both died before he reached the age of ten, and Fitchett was moved to Warrington by his guardian Mr. Kerfoot, and placed at the Warrington Grammar School under the Rev. Edward Owen. Career In 1793 he was articled to his guardian, and in due time, having been admitted an attorney, was taken into partnership with him, subsequently attaining a high place in his profession. Fitchett died unmarried at Warrington on 20 October 1838, and was buried at Winwick Church. His library was left to his nephew John Fitchett Marsh, and was later sold after his death, at Sotheby's, London, 12–13 May 1882. Margaret Fitchett
Hannah Margaret Edith Fitchett (married name Elmore, 16 June 1875 – 6 October 1958), sometimes called Daisy Fitchett, was a New Zealand artist. Biography Fitchett was born at the parsonage in the Christchurch suburb of St Albans, the daughter of Alfred Fitchett, later Dean of Dunedin, and Theresa Margaret Fitchett. She studied at Dunedin Art School (now Otago Polytechnic), then traveled to Europe to study in Dresden under portrait painter Franz Kops. Fitchett also studied in Paris at the Académie Julian, Rue de Berri, where her professors included William-Adolphe Bouguereau and Gabriel Ferrier. Following her time at the Académie Julian, Fitchett studied under the tuition of impressionist Louis Deschamps When Fitchett returned to Dunedin, she took pupils for a time before returning to Europe to study at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, under genre painter Viggo Johannsen and miniaturist Laura Sarauw. Michael Fitchett (Australian Sportsman)
Michael King Fitchett (30 November 1927 – 1 April 2021) was a sportsman who played first-class cricket for Victoria and Australian rules football with Hawthorn during the early 1950s. Fitchett attended Scotch College, Melbourne. He played regularly for Victoria in the 1951/52 Sheffield Shield season and scored his only first-class hundred in an innings against Western Australia at Perth, his 108 coming from seventh position down the order. Michael Robert Elmslie Fitchett (born 20 September 1982) is a New Zealand former professional basketball player. He attended Nelson College from 1996 to 2000, where he excelled as a sportsman. He was the school's junior athletics champion in 1996 and 1997, played for the 'A' basketball team from 1996 to 2000, and was a member of the 1st XI cricket team from 1996 to 2000. He played in the New Zealand NBL every year between 1999 and 2012. He also played one game in the Australian NBL with the New Zealand Breakers in January 2009. He also represented the Tall Blacks multiple times between 2008 and 2011. In October 2018, Fitchett was appointed head coach of the Nelson Giants for the 2019 season. William Henry Fitchett
William Henry Fitchett (9 August 1841 – 25 May 1928) was an Australian journalist, minister, newspaper editor, educator and founding president of the Methodist Ladies' College, Melbourne. Early life Fitchett was born in Grantham, Lincolnshire, England, third son of William Fitchett, a perfumer, hairdresser, clog and Patten-maker, toy-dealer and Wesleyan preacher. He came with his parents to Australia in 1854, his father died in 1851. Fitchett first worked in a quarry near Geelong, then became a jackaroo on a station in Queensland, and largely self-educated, entered the Methodist ministry in 1866. Minister and educator Fitchett's first parish was at Mortlake, Victoria, and for 16 years he was a circuit minister at Echuca, Bendigo, South Yarra and Hawthorn. He continued his studies after entering the ministry and in 1876 took the degree of B.A. at the University of Melbourne. John Fitchett Marsh (24 October 1818 – 24 June 1880) was an English solicitor, official and antiquary.Marsh, John Fitchett. He was educated at Warrington grammar school under Thomas Vere Bayne. On the death of his father, his guardian was his uncle John Fitchett, and Marsh later succeeded to his business as a solicitor. On the incorporation of Warrington in 1847 Marsh was appointed town-clerk, and held the office until 1858. He was instrumental in establishing the Warrington School of Art, and the Public Museum and Library.
